A decisive, dominating win by Mrs. Stroock's Eagles over the Washington Foreskins 55-23. Washington hung in there, but was overmatched by Philadelphia who looked, you know, big strong and tough.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts* put in a workmanlike performance throwing for 251 yards and rushing for three touchdowns, while running back Saquon Barkley rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns, including a 60 yard score the first time he touched the ball. The man is a delight and should be NFL MVP. The Eagles are a run first team, which is nice to see for a change, rushing for 229 yards and six (!) touchdowns in total.
The Eagles defense roughed up Washington, sacking Jayden Daniels three times, forced three turnovers, and stuffed Washington's running game. Impressive. The Eagles defense held Washington scoreless in the fourth quarter. In contrast, Philadelphia scored three touchdowns in the fourth to put the game away. On the first of those touchdowns, Washington was warned by the officials. Then they were advised. We've never seen anything like that before.
Overall, this was the greatest playoff win in Eagles history.
In a thriller the Kansas City Chiefs managed to beat the Buffalo Bills without assistance from the officials, 32-29. We are aware that many believe that late interception non-call/ completion went the Chiefs way as per the refs. We disagree with this interpretation. The refs made the right call.
[Is this a sports blog now?-Ed]. No, this is not a sports blog. [Right. And you're still a Giants fan-Ed]. Yes, we are still a Giants fan. Oh, look what anniversary is today. At 51 years of age, our top sports moment ever.
The ceasefire in Lebanon has been extended to February 18th with Israeli troops remaining in the south. Hamas is releasing seven hostages this week. You people know Hamas didn't want to release any hostages, right? Right?! Egypt and Jordan have rejected President Trump's plan, endorsed 100 percent by Stroock's Books, to 'empty out' Gaza. We'll say the same thing to Egypt and Jordan that we've said to Denmark: we aren't asking. Oh look, Netanyahu is meeting Trump in Washington next week.
Irish president Michael Higgins used a Holocaust Remembrance Day speech to bash Israel and blood libel the Jews. Stroock's Books doesn't hate the Irish, this blog just thinks Ireland has no right to exist and the Ulster Volunteer Force was a band of plucky freedom fighters. That's how it works, right, Mikey? Just a quick reminder that on the great issues of the 20th century, Ireland didn't have much to say and sent condolences to the German embassy on Hitler's death.
Oh, and on Holocaust Remembrance Day, do note that now the Jews have guns, tanks, jets and nuclear weapons.
During his obliteration of CBS' Margret Brennan yesterday, Vice President Vance said the formerly great National Review had 'lost relevance'. Quite right. NR coined the term Never Trump, kicked off the movement, and has been playing catchup with the right ever since. Frankly, nobody cares what's printed in the magazine's moldy pages anymore.
*Hurts' game is unique. He's a big guy but also fast and quick, and not afraid to rush into a scrum. Which other QBs would one take over Hurts? Patrick Maholmes, Josh Allen for certain. Anyone else is arguable. Hurts is going to his second Super Bowl.
