Thursday's Back

Good morning, Stroock's Books congregants. When leaving the facility Catholics and Jews will kindly use the side entrance.

The girls were listening to Milli Vanilli's I'm Gonna Miss You last night and were stunned that we were singing along. The Heavy Metal Police issued us a citation and summons. 'Sir, why do you know the words?', they asked.

What do we got today...? A dog bites man story in New Orleans*. Don't worry, the FBI has dispatched its top men to investigate the totally-not Islamic terrorist attack. Top men. Or nose-ringed women anyway. Nice uptalking there, madam. This blog has every confidence in the FBI. Every confidence. Stroock's Books reminds the readership that Islam is a religion of peace.

Project 2020-Will: Abolish the racist filibuster...expand the Supreme Court...impeach Justices Sotomayor and Kagan on the grounds that they were improperly seated because the man who appointed them was ineligible to hold the office of president.

Wow, Mark Steyn read our question on air. 'Okay, fanboi,' our Fellow North American replied.

Oh look, we're bringing back the Thursday Downer [Um, yay?-ed]. If we'll remember 2024 for one thing, it's rising anxiety. We were anxious about big stuff. We were anxious about little stuff. We were anxious about things we couldn't control. We were anxious about things we could control. We were even anxious about things we did control. It really got bad last year. We don't do resolutions, but if we did, not being so anxious would be the resolution. But how to do that? [You know they make pills for that sort of thing-Ed]. No way. No.

Why yes, we did raise our book prices on Amazon. After all, we're Will Stroock. $4.99 has been the sweet spot for more than a decade. But we figured given our books' ratings and the size of our audience, raising prices a buck (quid for those of you with a speech impediment) or two was a good risk to take. If sales tank, we can always lower prices.

*In journalism, such as it remains, a dog biting a man is normal and therefore not news. The inverse is man-bites dog, which is not normal, and therefore news. 'Why would a man bite a dog?' Middle Daughter asked us. 'Exactly,' we replied.
