Will's Good Idea for the Week of 1/5/25

Good Sunday morn, Christian faithful and other reader(s) of Stroock's Books.

The University of Kentucky Wildcats were on the telly at the gym yesterday. We messaged one of our Kentucky cousins, 'We're a UK family, right?' He messaged back that we are a UK family and how dare we imply that we might be a Louisville* family. His children aren't allowed to play with the children of Louisville fans, the heathens. To quote, 'Yes 100% Louisville needs to be traded off to Indiana or Ohio with 2 first round draft picks... I purposely will drive out of my way to avoid that entire city.' For those who don't know, talking about trading a part of Kentucky off to Indian is strong words, strong words indeed. To quote another cousin, 'We don't like no Hoosiers here.'

Related...Manhattan congestion pricing beings tomorrow. As if we needed an excuse to stay out of Manhattan. Drop the crossings into the Hudson, Governor Murphy. This blog is 100 percent comfortable with never setting foot in Manhattan again.

Last night after takeout at our dear neighbors', we watched the second half of the Steelers/Bengals game. For some reason, people think Steelers' QB Russell Wilson is good. He is not good. Russell Wilson is in fact bad. He was run out of Seattle and Denver, and his super bowl victory was over a decade ago. This blog predicts Wilson will be with the Jets next season.

Speaking of, the Jets are going to interview former coach Rex Ryan. Ryan is the last Jets coach to win anything and actually wants the job. Why not?

[Are you becoming a sports blogger?-Ed] Meh, beats recaps of the latest Washington machinations, does it not?

We read the World War 1990: Thatcher's War chapter in which the IRA makes Maggie very, very angry.** Unlike the setup chapter, this chapter looks pretty good. We show 'the incident' and then show various reactions via, 'Hey look at what the Beeb is reporting.'

Will's Good Idea for the Week of 1/5/25...[Oh, he's got some big plans-Ed] We'll be getting War Night out this winter. The Thatcher's War rough will be done roughly by 31 May. We'll be writing some sort of summer sneak it and getting Thatcher's War out this December.

What do we write during the autumn? If (if-we have our doubts) War Night does well, we'll probably do another aftermath style nuke novel. Short stories all taking place in the 80s and 90s.

*Don't ever pronounce Louisville Lou-e-Vil. It's more like Lulvl. Swallow the vowels, all of them.

**You people know what happens right? Should we avoid spoilers, or should we tell y'all?
