Light snow here today. The extreme southern part of New Jersey is getting 6-8 inches [No bad joke?-Ed]. Okay, you wouldn't be able to handle 6-8 inches...of snow. Anyway, across Delaware Bay, Delaware is going to get walloped with a foot of snow That's .30 meters for you European reader(s). My god, Delaware will be closed for days.
In the final NFL game of the season, the Detroit Lions defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-9 to win the first seed in the NFC. The Lions looked....well you know. No surprise, really. The Vikings haven't won a big game since the 1970s.
Mrs. Stroock's Eagles beat our own New York Giants. We don't remember the score and aren't inclined to look it up. Why bother? Yes, the crowd was sparse. Only a fool goes to the Meadowlands in January to watch a bad team close out a terrible season.* People talk about Soldier Field in Chicago or Lambeau Field in Green Bay being brutal. But the Meadowlands, with winter winds coming right off the Atlantic, is just as bad. We wouldn't have gone to the game either an2 in fact skipped out on a 4:30 game on the last day of the season in 2003. The Giants were 3-12.
So the Giants' 100th season was terrible, lousy, no good. The 100th season was also rock bottom, right? Right? It's certainly the worst Giants season we've ever seen, and that includes 2017 when Ben McAdoo benched Eli Manning for some reason. If owner John Mara brings any of these people back, he's freakin' nuts. Blow up the whole damn thing. Blow it up with extreme prejudice.**
Up north, Justin will resign this week, they say. We don't even know where to begin. Fortunately our Fellow North American will have a few thoughts. One American thought, was it even possible to have a bad Canadian prime minister before Justin? What a disaster. Again, we don't even know where to begin.
Down here, Congress meets today to certify Trump's election. The left, from the media to Anti-fa, has been quiet since November 5th. Are they defeated or just waiting? We think the latter. Exit question: is today the day?
Oh look, we organized the nuclear war books on Amazon. We spend a lot of time wondering how to sell books. We spend a lot of time wondering if we write too much and hustle to little. Should we be hustling more? We knew how to hustle in 2015. Magazine ads, blogads, some strategic plugs with prominent bloggers, etc etc. But we're not sure that would work anymore. In fact, periodically we buy a magazine ad just to check, nothing happens. We think we don't know how to hustle in 2025.
Monday Metal (Triumphant Return). There's never been a really good book or documentary about Led Zeppelin. Hammer of the Gods is the best we can do. PJM's indispensable Ed Driscoll reviews.
*We went to the Meadowlands in January of 1987 to watch the Giants annihilate the 49rs 49-3 and advance to the NFC Championship Game against the Redskins. People in Washington are still bitching about the wind tunnel like conditions. That's the Meadowlands, nancy-boy.
