Good morning Stroock's Books daily wage workers, and happy Soylent Green Day. Those chips are soy, we promise.
As we write this, we hear a whole lotta sirens. What's up with that?
A few follow up Super Bowl observations about the Eagles. For all the talk of the Eagles' pass rush, the defensive ends stayed in their lanes and every time Mahomes rolled out, an Eagle player was in front of him. Even when Mahomes managed to scramble, Eagles' defenders were on his tail. Cooper Dejean's interception for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter marked the point that we realized the Chiefs were in trouble, and seems to be the game's signature play. The Chiefs didn't even try to run the ball on the Eagles. Closing reminder, in the middle of the 4th quarter the score was 40-6. What an amazing defensive performance.
What do we got this morning?
Trump is promising all hell will break lose if Hamas doesn't release hostages as planned. So that's what it's like not having a senile president being pushed around by Hamas simps in the White House, eh? Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Hamas must be eradicated. As we've been arguing for weeks, the ceasefire's benefits far outweigh the risks. Hamas' only asset is the remaining hostages.
2005 Alive. We said we'd get to this eventually. Ah...20 years ago we were having a great time substitute teaching at Bernards High School. Right about now we were rediscovering one of our favorite hard rock bands, Tesla. We saw Tesla at the Westchester County Center in August of 1989. We'd see them again at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville that March. This was our first rock concert in at least a decade and marked something of a triumphant return for us. About this time, we began home shopping. We'd been renting a cold but charming farmhouse in bucolic Peapack New Jersey for four years. And we were wrapping up the final draft (or so we thought) of A Line Through the Desert.
Yesterday we worked on three separate scenes showing the Battle of Waterside in World War 1990: Thatcher's War. Should that be Waterside of The Waterside? We don't know. We've got a Protestant mob going strong on the east bank of the Foyle. We need to get a Catholic mob going on the west bank. Ah there we go. Ain't Sectarian violence grand?
We didn't get around to watching a Troubles doc yesterday, mostly because we're not sure where we're going next. We're still not ready to research Mr. Adams and Mr. McGuinness. But we may do something stupid this afternoon like have an Arturo Fuente and a pint of Guinness. You see what we did there, right?
We sent the War Night MS to the editor and away we go. We should have the MS back by 25 February. We have to think about the back cover text, and what we want the War Night cover to look like. It should blend with the other three novels in the series, but we want something a touch different. A nighttime theme, there ye go, lad.
