Saturday Updates

Good Saturday morning, Stroock's Books weekenders.

Thanks to the DOGE mini-controversy, we can't get AC/DC's Big Balls out of our head. Thanks, we guess.

Snow and general wintery crap is expected tonight making for an accumulation of about three inches.

From JNS, remarkable: 'Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government scored record high numbers in a new poll, with his Likud Party winning 33 Knesset seats if an election were held now. Together with his right-wing coalition, Netanyahu would control a total of 63 seats in the 120-seat parliament, according to Direct Polls, which conducted the survey for Israel’s Channel 14.' Always trust Bibi. Never bet against Bibi. And don't get sick of victory.

What explains the Bibi/Likud rise? Getting the hostages back helps. Also, each day the deal looks just a bit better than the day before, especially with Trump throwing his support behind Israel. Do note this poll doesn't say anything about Naftali Bennett. Recent polls show Bennett beating Bibi. However, his party and candidacy are entirely theoretical. Bennett is young. He has time. A rising Bibi may scare him off. The rest of the Israeli opposition is a mess. Without Bennett, Bibi it is then.

The Things.

We spent all week writing, editing and researching World War 1990: Thatcher's War. We've written in some new characters which means we need to write some new setup scenes early in the book. This is good. The Battle of Waterside is about to begin. Things are messy, but coming along just fine. Messy is good. World War 1990: Thatcher's War is 28,000 words.

We've no idea why we haven't been able to put the last touches on War Night and shrug in the most Mediterranean way possible.

A new idea is percolating. Will discuss tomorrow. We don't know. But it's an interesting idea.
