Friday Malaise Day

We awake tired and sore and cranky. This knee thing is not going away and we admit to pondering a trip to the dread urgent care. We don't like doctors or doctor's offices, certainly not after our extended bout with gout and plantar fasciitis during the autumn of 2020. We did everything the doctors said, didn't get better, and their response was to talk about surgery. Like we were going to let these people slice our foot open after months of failure. [And what exactly is up your butt this morning?-Ed].

Ah, now that we're up and about and did a cherry extract shooter we're at least 50% better.

We got in a Judaism last night and may well get in another Judaism tonight. Purim was fun.

So we went to our Barnes and Noble yesterday, a recon mission of sorts. [He's calling it a 'recon' mission because he can't figure out how to spell 'reconnaissance'-Ed]. A few thoughts...

Wow, only a couple of bookshelves are dedicated to science fiction and fantasy novels now, decimated by Kindle and other ebook platforms. Also, the Big Five publishers refuse to service the men's book market.

We also checked out the military history magazines for advertising ideas. A decade ago we built our audience through these ads. These days military history magazines are only running a few ads, mostly  for museums or fancy watches or commemorative fountain pens and such. We did see a full-page ad for a big publishing house's history book. It looks like our decision to not run military history magazine ads is well justified. Which leaves us with the same old question. Now what?

DOGE report: we 'finished' the 2nd Battle of Derry chapter yesterday. Still tonnes of work to do though. We're working on something else today. We won't know what till we get back from the bus stop. But we're working on something else. Fridays usually suck anyway. Right now, we think of Thatcher's War and feel nothing but, [Oh no-Ed], oh yes, great fear and trepidation. Okay we're back from the bus stop and we still don't know.
