Top of the late midweek morning, Stroock's Books constituents.
We got to the gym yesterday and left with a sore knee. It's doing better this morning, but still. Are we going to have to rest this thing for a couple of weeks?
Dolphins greeted the two astronauts returned from the ISS by Space-X. So long, and thanks for all the fish.
We don't care about the JFK files.
More fun with Israeli polls. Direct Polls says the renewed war on Hamas is popular with the Israeli public and if the election were held today Netanyahu's coalition would win 63 seats. Netanyahu beats both Lapid and Benny Ganz handily. A 6 March survey by Direct Polls had similar results. So far, they seem to be the outlier. But what if Direct Polls has figured out the zeitgeist? Naftali Bennett is the opposition's only hope.
And more anti-Netanyahu protests, this time over the firing of the head of Shin Beit. Judicial overhaul, hostages, the AG, Shin Beit, nothing can divert these people from making whatever is happening in Israel about their own personal drama and psyche. They protest all with the same furor.
2005 Alive: In a lot of ways we'd had a rough winter, but we were coming out of it, stronger for once. Which just shows how life was improving. We were deep into our HS sub gig and working on a 5,000 word feature about 1066 for Strategy & Tactics Magazine. We'd won the bidding war for our house, but some tense negotiations ensued with the then owners. We were insulted by the then owner's counteroffer and told our lawyer to tell them that. Things broke eventually and here we are almost 20 years later.
DOGE report: we read through Chapter I of the Battle of Derry and made it much better. Oh look, the 6000 words we cut from Thatcher's War are back in. One must needs know what's happening in the rest of the world. And having these digressions to say, Rome, makes sense since Thatcher's War will take place over the course of a few months. We're working on Chapter II of the Battle of Derry all day today.
