A rainy good morning to Stroock's Books associated rejects, from the hinterlands of central/north New Jersey. That is, the central zone of the northern part of the state. Central New Jersey is not a thing. On this hill we will die.
We're staring at our grill cover, which blew off in the night, and wondering if we should bother putting it back on the grill in the rain. We're also a bit worried about our new and tarpless outdoor furniture [It's OUTDOOR furniture -Ed]. We know! We confessed to the doctor last week that we've felt a lot of anxiety the last year +. The doctor wanted to proscribe something for that. We said hell no. We're down to one pill and intent to keep it that way.
Happy Victory Day, Comrades...
[Why do you have a Soviet flag...? Wait a minute...why do you have a Soviet tie?!-And how did you make your face look so, so....Soviet-Ed]. Easy, we just imagined we'd made the monthly shoe quota by manufacturing only left footed shoes.
As of this morning War Night: Stories of the Great Nuclear War of 1975 is #17 in its Amazon category. War Night has 33 ratings for a 4.6 star average.
We got to the gym yesterday, of course, for our cardio session. Last week on the Ellitptical, after mentally wandering off and seeing we'd been on the damn thing for 18 minutes (we usually do 15-minute sessions), we decided to push on through to 30 minutes. We've been doing that ever since. This we enjoy.
Congrats, Catholic faithful. We don't really have a dog in this fight, but we did enjoy the joy the television showed in Rome. And we got an American in there. USA! USA! You know Trump is going to take credit for this, right? As far as doctrine and politics go the new guy seems about like the old guy. Which is fine.
The Israelis have begun their Gaza offensive in earnest. Good. Bomb Gaza. There's much worry in Israel that Trump will make a deal with Iran sans Israel. Honestly, we've no idea what Trump will do. Exit question, is Trump so desperate for a deal with Iran that he'll make a bad deal with Iran?
What Will's Watching, Andor Season-2 episode-8. This episode was about the riot/revolt on the planet Gorman. This was no brave, glorious uprising. It was actually a horror show. A riot followed by a massacre. The episode was well executed, packed with tension, and utterly predictable. We didn't quite buy into the emotional journey that a pair of important Imperial characters took. The writers just didn't set the journey up enough in previous episodes. Nevertheless, we were entertained.
DOGE report: after fits and starts we got a lot done on the Battle of Derry chapter in World War 1990: Thatcher's War [Londonderry-Ed]. Shut up, Ed. You're from Liverpool. If this novel pisses off or otherwise displeases both (all?) sides, then we will take great comfort.
Our reading and rereading on the IRA continues apace and will continue to continue apace. We ordered three new books yesterday. We've made a few editorial decisions which we'll discuss tomorrow.
