Friday Post Without Title

Good morning, Stroock's Books Kibbutzim and Shabbat Shalom.

The knee still bugs, and this blog estimates we won't get to the gym until at least Monday, which sucks. Every day we miss the gym we grow weaker, while the enemy grows stronger [Enemy?-Ed]. Okay after being up and about the knee feels 25 percent better than it did Thursday morning and 50 percent better than it did Wednesday morning.

Still no ceasefire in Gaza. Which is fine. Ceasefire or no ceasefire, we're okay either way. Bomb Gaza.

DOGE report: Yesterday we began two scenes in World War 1990: The Managua campaign. These are a briefing by General Carl Stiner, commanding American forces in Cuba, and a scene where Flavio (remember him?!) is talking to another rebel leader. So far, so good.

Two of our research books arrived yesterday. We began reading right away. Over a decade ago we published an article in Strategy & Tactics Magazine (who stiffed us later over the Meuse-Argonne game we designed) about the Contra War. One couldn't find a lot of books on the Contra War back then. Only a few more books are available now.

For younger readers, Latin America, Nicaragua, and the Contras were a major front in the Cold War. Supporting the Contras was an important issue for the Reagan administration and led to the Iran Contra scandal, which dominated the news in 1987. But the Iran-Contra scandal and the war seem to have faded from popular memory.

We edited World War 1990: Thatcher's War a bit. We also began work on the British invasion force. We concluded that transferring units from BAOR is unfeasible and unnecessary. Instead the British will send a couple of territorial brigades to Ireland. Heh, when ships transporting units/equipment arrive in Belfast, the IRA will force a dock workers strike and foment a riot. Heh again. The final chapters are taking shape in our head [It's all in your head, Knobhead-Ed].
