Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's in Stroock's Books fanbase. Sit back, enjoy a white wine spritzer, and binge a home-decor/cooking reality show while dad takes the kids to IHOP.
We admit to being a touch morose on Mother's Day. Mrs. Stroock's mother has been gone for 23 years now, tomorrow. She passed on Mother's Day, believe it or not. Our own mother passed 2018.
Sometimes we think we should drink more.
We've had most excellent weather here in northern New Jersey these last few days. We were sorely tempted to indulge an Arturo Fuente or two yesterday, but na. It'd only been ten days since our last, and we couldn't get the timing right anyway.
We mowed the lawn yesterday morning, which counted as our workout. Today is weightlifting day.
Let's get on with the good ideas for the week of 5/11/25...We should begin reading the book we got on the IRA in South Armagh. This will be the next chapter in World War 1990: Thatcher's War.
Thatcher's War began as a book about Britain invading Ireland...but it's morphed into a book about Britain fighting a bloody counterinsurgency in Ireland. What if....what if we cut off Thatcher's War with the Armagh campaign, and the opening blockbuster to the next World War 1990 novel it the British invasion of Ireland?
We've no ju-ju, none whatsoever for a 5th nuke novel. It's time to consider other ideas for the summer sneak in.
