We were aware of flashflood warnings here in Somerset County last night but were not really concerned until everyone's phone screeched the alert. We took Youngest Daughter's friend home (we didn't see any evidence of flooding) and hunkered down.
It seems the floods were big news in North America, as a FB associate in Canada asked after us. We were touched.
No, we did not float away in the flash flooding. Though at one point Somerset County issued a shelter in place order. The storm really inundated the north part of town, but for the most part merely brushed the south side of town.
We worried about our sump pump, which for reasons we couldn't quite articulate, we feared would stop working. The pump is a year old. Even if we were to lose power, the water just backs up into the French drains, which is exactly what happened during Sandy back in 2012. Besides, we have a battery backup. That's three lines of defense [It's called anxiety, knobhead. Look in to it -Ed].
Nope, things are fine here at Casa de Stroock.
Parts of New Jersey and Somerset County really got whacked, though.
This morning the sun is bright and the sky is blue.
We dunno....what else we got today? Bla-bla Gaza, bla-bla negotiations. The Haredi party has left Netanyahu's coalition. That is too bad...Shas may follow this week. That is also too bad...We inhale deeply and smell parliamentary kabuki, oh yes, parliamentary kabuki.*
DOGE report. Quite a good day with the Battle of Los Banos. We're in the making things make sense stage of the writing. We got Nicaraguans over here....Cubans over there...a Marine convoy strung out on the road....An AN-26 transport marooned on the tarmac. Why? Why? Why? This stage is laborious and cumbersome. Twenty Thousand words, man.
We read some more World War 1990: Thatcher's War interlude. Again we are pleased. The Battle of Armagh awaits. We approach this chapter with [Great fear and trepidation?-Ed] great fear and trepidation. But things are coming together quite nicely. [Bristol fashion? -Ed]. Not quite Bristol fashion, whatever that is.
We're off to take the cats to the vet, presuming the roads are open.
