Good morning, Stroock's Books people. We awake to temperatures in the mid-50s. They'll top out in the mid-70s today. Summer slips away...Which is fine.
'Oh my god! Dad! Did you hear about Taylor and Travis!' And so passed the word of the next great celebrity marriage in casa de Stroock. The great Robert Stacy McCain, who is always right when it comes to relationships, is not optimistic. In five years, Taylor swift will do an 'I divorced Travis Kelce' concept album. Chiefs suck.
Canada's own Ezra Levant, whom long time reader(s) will recall we quote here from time to time about Jews, Judaism and Trump, has an excellent video on the Anti-Israel right. The video thumbnail is a pic of Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens. Which is appropriate. We think Ben Shapiro broke Owens' brain and now she's just nuts. As for Tucker, it seems he's followed his beliefs to some conclusions with which we disagree. Ezra's thoughts on the rise of
Hmmm....this blog is generally inclined to think Bush-41 was a pretty good president. We'd give him a B. Desert Storm, managing the recession, handling the saving and loan crisis are all strong Bush-41 positives. But William L. Anderson at the Mises Insitute thinks Bush-41 was a terrible big government man. We dunno.
Operation Raise the Colors continues in Britain. We hear a lot of talk on line about Britian being on the brink of civil war. When us Yanks (we mean that in the British way, which is to include the South - sorry), think of civil war, we think of Blues and Grays, Billy Yanks and Johnny Rebs. But most civil wars aren't like that. Think of Lebanon in the 80s or Ireland's Troubles. This block is Prod, that block is Taig, let's go burn 'em out.
We've also been thinking about the American Revolution. The troubles in the Colonies began in 1763 with King George's proclamation that there be no colonial settlement beyond the Appalachians. From there King and Parliament antagonized the Colonies on and on with the Stamp Act, Parliamentary Supremacy, the Tea Act, the Intolerable Acts...etc, etc. In Boston there came a lot of civil unrest, protests, riots, boycotts, etc, etc...Then in 1775 war began with the 'shot heard round the world' at Lexington. Twelve years of bad decisions brought about war. At what stage is Great Britain?
