Sunday Without a Good Idea

This morning the snow is frozen. The sky is gray. The air is cold. It already feels like January here. 

So yesterday we got the driveway cleared pretty good. Didn't even have to break out the snow blower.  There's no residual snow/sleet goop. We see nothing but black asphalt. Our hands are sore, as is our back. [How many years till you break down and hire someone to clear the snow? -Ed]. Many, many years. That's a superfluous luxury when one has three daughters to put through school. [Well you better get writing -Ed].

Related...the editor got the World War 1990: Ireland MS back to us yesterday. We'll start the read through in the new year. [Why not start now?-Ed]. We don't want to rush it. Hmmm what about this title, World War 1990: Aftermath Ireland?

More...The above mentioned book begins with several scenes showing main characters the night the war breaks out. Should Thatcher's War also begin that way? 

Sports wrap.

We watched the Texas defense rough up the Chargers, who were never really in the game. The Texans had five sacks, with a couple of more sacks disqualified due to penalties. Chargers' QB Justin Herbert was running for his life. 

We didn't see the Packers/Ravens game because those bastards in the NFL put the game on Peacock, and we weren't going to stoop to subscribe to a network television streaming service just for one game. Bastards.* 

JFC, FB just showed us an ad for tickets to this afternoon's Jets game. JFC again. The Jets have had ten losing seasons in a row, and just one winning season in the last 15. They last made the playoffs in 2010. The Giants aren't that bad, yet. 

Speaking of, it sounds like the Giants are in tank mode to get the number one draft pick. If they have any brains the Giants will trade that pick. They got a QB, Ole Miss's own Jaxson Dart**. With two highly touted college QBs entering the draft, the Giants could get a boatload of pics for the number one pic and really fill some needs. 

Oh, FFS. The Jets are the only 1 PM game on the telly. We got the Giants at 4. But also, the Eagles and Bills.

*We started reading The Three Body Problem instead. Why not? We were inspired by the Ferral Historian's review of same.
