The Messiah Doubts

In his new book, former Obama flunky Ben Rhodes* shows us that Obama saw himself as some sort of messianic figure. After Trump won Obama said, 'Sometimes I wonder whether I was 10 or 20 years too early.'

In 2008 Barrack Hussein Obama won 52.9 percent of the popular vote and 365 electoral votes.

Obama won a clean, solid and most respectable victory against a candidate past his prime who had missed his chance in 2000. Barrack Hussein Obama's victory also came in a time of war and recession with the unpopular president of the opposition party in the White House. His victory was also a milestone.

In 1988 George HW  Bush won 53..4 percent of the popular vote and 426 electoral votes

*We'll deal with this crud in another post.

Obama was Born this Way

Somewhere along the line we became an Obama Birther.

Wherever Barry Soetoro was actually born he never did get America. He spent much of his life overseas in places like Indonesia and was raised by his white grandparents in Hawaii, which barely counts as America.

In Barry's mind millions of us were bitterly clinging to our guns and religion. He always acted like he was bringing to America the kind of government that was self evident to sophisticated globalists, the Davos set.

How good of him.

If one wanted proof that Barry doesn't get the whole USA thing, look no further than his presidential library. Quoth John Gabriel:
A discarded Chinese take-out box. The backside of a Star Wars sand crawler. The Washington Monument with the interesting bits lopped off. That’s what sprung to mind when confronted with the initial design of the Obama Presidential Center.

That thing really does look like a Jawa sand crawler. Just writing that we have the musical score from the Star Wars sand crawler scene in our head. Thanks, Barry.

The Presidential Library, such as it is, will also have an Athletic Center (WTF?) and a Forum:
The Forum is two-story public meeting space, with one story above grade and one below ground, where people of all backgrounds can come together for programming. Visitors might take in a performance in the auditorium, create something in the broadcast studio, visit the public winter garden, or even grab a bite to eat in the restaurant. Like much of the Campus, the majority of this space will be free and open to the public.
The estimable M. Steyn has lambasted the modern habit of former presidents building monuments to themselves, but if your going to do it, at least make your monument look presidential, marble, granite, Roman columns, etc etc...

The Barrack Hussein Obama Presidential Library seems like a community center. Which makes sense since its namesake was a community organizer.

Putin Strikes

Looks like I better write Putin Strikes while I still can, eh?

Putin puts nuclear missiles in the Baltic, orders the diplomats to send their dependents home and cancels a state visit to Paris. What a crisis.

Oh come now, this is no crisis. Obama will fold. He always folds.

Now, back in the day, I used to wonder why we were poking around Eastern Europe. Why bring the Baltic states into NATO? What's the point of that? For that matter, what's the point of NATO anymore? I mean really, the Germans are going to fight the Russians? Or the Norwegians, Belgians or Dutch? Yeah sure, Ok.

As it happens I've been reading a bio of Putin. He's pretty much what we think he is, stern, calculating, brutal when necessary and interested in restoring the greatness of Mother Russia. Mission accomplished, I'd say. In this space I have argued that Putin is securing his western flank because the eastern flank is so problematic. But I think I got it wrong. He gets on splendidly with China. He secured the eastern flank so he could make trouble on the western flank.

He's just so damn brazen about it. Georgia, Ukraine, Syria now the Baltics. I wonder what Putin has on us. He's probably reading our diplomatic correspondence word for word. Has he got a man in the White House? The State Department? He owns Barry, that's for sure.

Look, Poland, I like you a lot, I really do. My advice, talk to Putin and get the best deal you can. The man is not unreasonable.

I'm not dying for Danzig.

Election Feels

I've been thinking a bit about the election 2008.

That year a new, different candidate came out of nowhere to defeat Hillary! and then John McCain.

I speak about Barrack Hussein Obama, of course.

Now the interesting about 2008 is John McCain. Going into September he led by 3 or 4 points and the Party of Jefferson Davis was becoming concerned. It is possible, I think that McCain could have won if not for a single event. The Financial Crisis. As the crisis unfolded I watched his lead shrink from three to two to one to zero; followed by Obama's taking the lead. He never relinquished said lead.

Other than the crisis, McCain faced a yuuge problem. He was a man out of his time. McCain's year was 2000. Did he blow it in the primaries against Bush? I guess, but honestly I don't know how he could have beaten the establishment colossus. Senator McCain, whom I voted for and even donated the max, would have walloped Algore, say 53-45? The man was a national hero.

2008 was HIllay!'s  year and she royally blew it, counting on her establishment status and huge war chest to outlast Obama. After he basically won the Super-Tuesday round of primaries, Hillary! had no plan.

My main point here is that this election feels like 2008. Hillary! was decently ahead at one point, but that lead has evaporated and Mr. Trump seems to be ahead 3-4  points.

What's the event that catapulted Trump? Hillary! is the event. The almost daily revelations, new emails found, the FBI notes, Huma's Mulsim brotherhood status. etc etc...heck Anthony Wiener, If Bill Clinton had a son, he'd look like Anthony Wiener.

Hillary! and the party apparatchiks looked terrified. I know I was in 2008.

Usually caveats apply, of course! But man, it doesn't look good for Hillary!.
