Barrett to Dems: I'm Smarter than you

We checked in on the Amy Coney Barrett hearing just in time to watch Senator Sheldon Whitehouse. We never thought he'd outdo the Brett Kavanaugh boofing interrogation, but we have to say, his half hour presentation on dark money conspiracy theories came close. We urge reader(s) to click the links and watch.

Dick Durban, the dumbest white man in the senate, asked the judge about the effect the George Floyd killing had on her. Speaking of dummies, Senator Masie Hirono asked Barrett if she'd ever been involved in a sexual assault or harassment, etc. Corey Booker (for whom we once voted to our shame) asked Barrett to condemn white supremacy. Amy Klobuchar said she'd like to be a queen.

These people are fucking retards.

Oh, and check out Nancy Pelosi's mental, emotional and spiritual breakdown on Wolf Blitzer yesterday. Anyone believe the Dems think they're winning? Good morning, Sunday morning, Nancy.

Judge this Mother !@#$#@

Just a great afternoon for Trump, Judge Barrett and America. A pitch-perfect speech from the judge. What a beautiful family, and if we may say so, what a beautiful woman. Wow.

Ouch! Ach! Stop hitting me!

[You knobhead. You have the chance to transform the court and all you have to say is, 'Dude, she's hot'-Ed]

We caught a bit of CNN yesterday. The Dems are acting as expected. We expect refusals to meet with the judge and even a boycott of the hearings. Chuck Schumer says Judge Barrett is a threat to Abortion and Obamacare. Do the Dems really want to run on Obamacare? When they did that in 2010 the GOP gave them a historical shellacking. We dare you, Senator. Chuck, we're laughing at the superior intellect.*

Already the knives are out for Judiciary committee ranking member Diane Feinstein. Jeffrey Toobin (the one who knocked up his colleague's daughter) said Feinstein's dogma crack turned Judge Barrett into a folk hero. We guess the dogma doesn't live loudly within Feinstein.  We saw someone say Kamala Harris should lead the Dem inquisition against Barrett. Mistake, big mistake. Harris is a dingbat who owes her success to the men with whom she fornicated.

And the dogma will be the theme of the next few weeks. The Dems just won't be able to help themselves. Ms. Venezuela and the rest of the Woke lunatics couldn't care less about mandates and premiums and they want Medicare for all anyway. No, for the Dems the confirmation will be about the judge's Catholicism and whatever else they can come up with. They're already attacking Judge Barrett for having two adopted black children. No surprise. The Dems have always opposed integration. As noted before, Col Schlichter, who is always right, predicts they'll find some drunken college drunken hookup in Judge Barrett's past and run with it.

Mitch got Himself an 8 Ball

When Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed on Friday, we assumed Mitch McConnell would huddle with the senate GOP over the weekend, take a vote count, and announce plans on Monday. Nope. McConnell announced that evening that the Senate would vote on the president's SCOTUS nominee.

That was fast.

This blog doesn't mean to let anybody down. We know the Dems are hoping for a long drawn out SCOTUS siege with bands of the leftist undead roaming Capitol Hill, Blue Check Marks tweeting their rage, MSNBC hosts breaking down on camera, etc...etc. We expect all that to happen and we look forward to enjoying their pain.

But it will be all for naught.

McConnell has certainly been wargaming this scenario for months. He's consulted with each GOP senator and already knows exactly where they stand. The vote has been whipped, and McConnell already has the votes to see a nominee through or he wouldn't have pledged to hold a vote.

Cocaine Mitch confirms judges and snorts long lines of Colombian white and he's all out of Colombian white.

The Supremes...

Carmichael's been pestering us for months about reforming the Supreme Court, but we've kept him hanging on.

[Ohhhh....clap-clap-clap-Ed]

We are theoretically open to a few minor reforms, like getting rid of lifetime appointments and such.

However the Dems are touting 'reform' because they know they're about to lose the court for a generation. So no. Screw them.

As far as William Stroock dot blogspot dot com is concerned, the court stays as is.

How's the Court, Ruthie? Eh, it's like Death Around Here

After having a pair of cancerous nodules removed from her lung, Justice Ruth Bader-Ginsburg has missed her third strait day of oral arguments before the court.

We here at William Stroock dot blogspot dot com demand proof of life.

Thanks, folks. Don't miss our Saturday matinee.*

It's hard, nay, impossible not to laugh at the left' predicament. Just the other week a congregant at our temple offered a prayer for Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The Dems are effed and they know it.

Via the Kavanaugh fiasco, Schumer completely disincentivized any kind of bipartisan cooperation from Republicans like, we dunno, Lindsay Graham. Why last year Graham would have urged the president to appoint some sort of centrist leaning squish to the court, an Alberto Gonzales, and would have worked hard to build a GOP coalition for said centrist leaning squish.

No longer.
Schumer should have let Gorsuch through and then filibustered Kavanaugh.

Not only is Amy Schumer's uncle the worst Jew in America, he's the worst senate leader of our lifetime and we lived through Bill Frist.**

Do we wish the woman dead?

No of course not.

But we remember leftist celebration when Scalia died, sooooo….

[Hey, Will, not funny-Ed]

Quite right, Ed it's serious. Deadly serious.

Ha! Don't forget to tip your waitresses, folks.

Kavanaugh not with a C but a K*

Brett Kavanaugh seems like a fine choice to us. Ann Coulter loves him.

He's part of that group of Originalist judges that the Bush Administration worked very hard to get into the judiciary. Chief Justice John Roberts is part of that group as well. This was a very big deal back in the 2000's.

For some reason Brett Kavanaugh rings a bell with us. Was there some sort of confirmation fight back in the day? Was he mentioned a lot back in the old National Review Corner? Am I confusing him with ex-Eagles backup QB Matt Cavanaugh?**

He's most likely an easier confirmation that Amy Coney Barrett who's a hard core Originalist and seriously devout Catholic. We suspect Trump will have one if not two more SCOTUS picks, and he's saving Barrett for when the Senate is more Republican.

Of course Kavanaugh is Catholic too, and the Dems will look like bigots challenging the man's faith.

Nice rollout on Trump's part. We don't ever recall a Prime Time intro like that. Leave it to Trump to turn a SCOTUS pick into a network TV show. Well done, sir. Never doubt that Trump understands media.

In the coming confirmation battle we strongly recommend following Powerline and Legal Insurrection.

*How long till the left hashtags KKKavanaugh?

Supreme Perils

Pro-Life forces are positively gleeful. With the Kennedy vacancy on the Supreme Court their prospects for getting Roe v Wade overturned have never been better.

Of course we ourselves are Abolitionist and were we to form a pro-life organization we'd call it The John Brown Society*.

But in overturning Roe v Wade, we see only great risk for Republicans.

Recall that if Roe v Wade is overturned the issue simply devolves to the states. Some states would pass strong legislation to protect abortion, others would ban abortion strait away.

Thus abortion would become the penultimate issue for several elections. Pro-abortion forces will be extremely motivated, and swing voters that want abortion legal in some way** may well vote Democrat in local races in swing states like Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

I'd hate to upend the political situation as it now stands.

*That's something like 60% of America, folks.

The Progressive Abyss

The Progressive has made a world with the 'politics of personal destruction' as Bill Clinton* once said. Conservatives aren't just wrong. Conservatives  are evil. Conservatives are the church elders in Footloose. Conservatives must be stopped by any means necessary.

Now in power, Conservatives have absolutely no incentive to be nice.

The Progressive is freaking out over the retirement of Justice Kennedy, a moderate soon to be replaced by a conservative justice. The Progressive's  hopes lie with an 85 year old lady who can't stay awake through the State of the Union. The Progressive knows he will soon face a 6-3 Conservative majority on the bench.

The Progressive stairs into the abyss and wonders if maybe he shouldn't have:

-vested so much intellectual prestige and effort in the Supreme Court
-killed the Judge Bork nomination
-tried to lynch Judge Thomas
-blamed the Oklahoma City Bombing on Republicans
-stuck by Bill Clinton even after he lied to the nation
-contested the 2000 election
-blamed W for 9/11
-stonewalled all those Bush judicial nominations
-politicized Abu Graib
-tried to lose the Iraq War
-pushed Obamacare through via pure parliamentary muscle
-used the pen and phone for DACA
-bypassed the senate for the Iran Deal
-forced that Christian to bake the cake
-forced a bunch of nuns to provide birth control and pay for abortions
-abolished the judicial filibuster for lower court appointments
-blamed the NRA for gun massacres
-justified harassment and violence against conservatives

The Progressive stares into the abyss and he sees himself staring right back.

Filibuster This Grand Bargain

So Chuck Schummer wants to filibuster the Gorsuch nomination to the Supreme Court.

This is a horrible idea.

There's a deal to be had here.

Right now if we put the Supreme Court on a 1-10 scale, 1 being most left 10 being most right, it stands at a 5.5, maybe a 6.

Neil Gorsuch going to the court would not upend this balance at all. He's replacing Antonin Scalia who was very conservative.

Now, sooner or later one of the old leftist judges, I'm looking at you Ruth Bader Ginsburg, is going to croak. It might happen within the next four years. Here's what Chuck should do. He should go to his opposite number, Mitch McConnell and say, 'Look, you Kentucky rube, I won't filibuster Gorsuch. In exchange, if/when Ginsburg dies, you and Trump appoint a slightly conservative judge to replace her.'

Let's say replacement is a 5.5 or 6 on the Stroock Supreme Court Scale. There'd be no reason not to offer or take that deal.
Is it a great deal for McConnell and the GOP? No but its a good deal.

Is it a good deal for Chuck and the Dems. No. but its the best deal they'll get.

Otherwise, the GOP goes nuclear and when Ginsburg kicks it, instead of a squishy Harriet Myers type they're looking at Alito 2.0.

My deal doesn't sound so bad now, does it?
