No Exit Stage Left

In stage news, a lead actor walked off the set of Phelim McAleer's 18 Billion Dollar prize becuase he didn't agree with the play's points about the environmental movement. The same happened with McAleer's play about the Ferguson riots.

We recall Native American actors walking off the set of Adam Sandler's Netflix movie, the Ridiculous 6 becuase they felt it was disrespectful. Really, Adam Sandler? Shocker there.

This is so fucking lame it is unbelievable.

Alas it has been 24 years since we graced the stage, the last time playing Hardcastle in Sir Oliver Goldsmith's She Stoops to Conquer. We were never an 18th century English Lord, yet we felt we did right by the role.

Prior to Hardcastle, our previous role was as Cradeau in Jean Paul Sartre's No Exit. Sartre was a French existentialist. We had no idea what that means then and we're pretty sure we don't know what it means now.  'Hell is just other people,' If you knew anything about the rest of the cast, you'd know that drunk frog was right.

Before that we played Bracket in Roger's and Hammerstein's South Pacific:

Will Stroock in the role that made him famous*

There we are, it's April '92 and we're 18. You can't really see here but the girl just off pic was wearing her daddies' old marine shirt complete with rank and medals which this middle aged father now thinks is just adorable.

Anyway, we've never been a captain in the United States Navy. We've never dealt with native economic policy on French South Pacific possessions. We're pretty sure we're for the economic independence of indigenous peoples on said islands. But Captain Bracket wasn't. We just shut up and said the lines, which we still remember, 'You are causing an economic revolution on this island. The French planters can't find a single native to pick a coconut becuase you've got them making these ridiculous grass skirts.'

*That girl in the Mumu and wig is Nancy Jacobs, a real thespian. She died of cancer about a decade ago.
