Blue Skies Creative, Blue Skies Israeli

Good misty morning, Stroock's Books readership.

We still have gout in the right big toe, which feels like it's in a vice. Ouch. We hobbled to and from the bus stop this morning. There's nothing like a gout attack to remind us that we are aging and our body is brittle. By the way, the scale said 243 yesterday at the gym. We're just a tweak away from 240.

Oldest Daughter has a test on World War Two coming up and asked us to tell her about D-Day. After wiping away tears of joy we did so. Afterwords we recommended we watch The Longest Day together, to supplement the talk. 'It's four hours,' we said. 'We better get started.' Actually, we were listening in as Oldest Daughter watched her teacher's YouTube lecture on the war, and it was exactly what we would have taught. Exactly, but with less panache and fewer dumb jokes.*

The war in Israel is about to get worse. Commentary reports on Iranian plans to execute a 10/7 style attack against Israelis in Judea and Samaria. At this point we doubt West Bank Person terrorists could fight their way into a town.  If Iranian backed terrorists did storm a town, then it's Netanyahu's head, and rightfully so. Every Israeli town in Judea and Samaria better have a rifle platoon stationed there, with a mobile reaction force nearby and Apache attack helicopters standing by.

Meanwhile Iran is publishing AI photos depicting drone and missile strikes on Haifa and Ben Gurion airport. The Jerusalem Post has a good writeup on all the ways Iran could attack Israel. The Iranians are promising big things. The Israelis are also promising big things. This week the IAF conducted operations over Cyprus, simulating an attack on Iran. Exit question: suppose the Iranians kill hundreds of Israelis, how does that change the Regime's calculous?

Still think the Gaza War is stalled? Ynet reports on the new Israeli attack in central Gaza, 'Following a series of unusual strikes overnight and the bombing of a tower block in the morning hours, the IDF announced that the 162nd Division began a targeted operation in the area overnight, noting that fighter jets and drones attacked dozens of terror sites above and below ground.' Israel Radar thinks this is a big deal. The new operation comes after the IDF eliminated three sons of Hamas head Ismail Haniyah, all of whom were active in the terrorist organization. It's almost like the Israelis have a plan or something. You know what the imams say.

Diplomatically the Israelis had a good day. France said they've no plans to sanction Israel. Britain said they're not going to stop selling weapons to Israel. Indonesia agreed to normalize relations with Israel. The Regime promised solidarity if Iran attacked and the head of Central Command is in Israel for talks. Reminder, this blog does not believe the United States should join the war. This is an Israeli war and should be fought by Israelis, albeit with American weapons.

Also, Saudi sources are reporting that Syrian President Bashar al Assad won't allow Iran to attack Israel from Syrian territory. Further reminder, Asad has this blog's grudging respect. Asad is the only leader whose protected Christians in the Middle East, and he kills a lot of Islamic terrorists. And First Lady Asma is a vision.

Just breakthrough on the Pancho Villa short story yesterday (which we may call Stand Off at San Miguel). We had a further breakthrough hobbling back from the bus stop this morning and we know how we're ending the story, more or less. We can see clearly now...the rain is gone.

*During our professorial days we'd put a map of the Pacific on the board, stand in the back of the room with a laser pointer and say, 'First we hit them here. Then we hit them here, here, here, and here.'
