Greater Europe aint't so Great...

...But the English Speaking Peoples are.

Ed West points out that the British Remains have a rather unrealistic view of what the Continent really is:
Right-thinking Britons see their country as an embarrassment sliding towards populism, a sad contrast to the moral superpower that is Germany and France under centrist leader Emmanuel Macron. Yet the Continent of the Anglo liberal imagination is as unreal as the supposed nostalgic Britain of yesteryear loved by Leavers.
Ed west gives us English speakers the skinny about what's really going on in Europe and it ain't pretty.

How France (Napoleon), Spain (Franco) Italy (Mussolini) and Germany (do I really have to say it?) became 'moral superpowers' in these people's minds is beyond us.

All the bad ideas of the 20th century were spawned in the solons of Europe. All them were defeated by the English Speaking Peoples.* The above listed nations would be fascist hell holes if it weren't for the boys of Liverpool** and Chicago, the Midlands and the Prairie Provinces, the Great Plains and the Canadian Rockies...

The American elite is the same way.  This is about place and class. The highly educated don't want to see themselves as citizens of mere-nations with their history (warts and all) religious and cultural traditions, national anthems before sporting events etc etc. Post national Europe is a far grander project, no?

And Globalists have been rocked by three elections now, Brexit, Trump and Boris' campaign. How could the public let them down like that? Psst, don't tell 'em about what's gonna happen in November.

Exit question for the sophisticated types the Remainers, the Never-Trumpers: What if it's you?

*You're damn right we capitalize that.
**[Awwww thanks -Ed]
