Greater Europe aint't so Great...

...But the English Speaking Peoples are.

Ed West points out that the British Remains have a rather unrealistic view of what the Continent really is:
Right-thinking Britons see their country as an embarrassment sliding towards populism, a sad contrast to the moral superpower that is Germany and France under centrist leader Emmanuel Macron. Yet the Continent of the Anglo liberal imagination is as unreal as the supposed nostalgic Britain of yesteryear loved by Leavers.
Ed west gives us English speakers the skinny about what's really going on in Europe and it ain't pretty.

How France (Napoleon), Spain (Franco) Italy (Mussolini) and Germany (do I really have to say it?) became 'moral superpowers' in these people's minds is beyond us.

All the bad ideas of the 20th century were spawned in the solons of Europe. All them were defeated by the English Speaking Peoples.* The above listed nations would be fascist hell holes if it weren't for the boys of Liverpool** and Chicago, the Midlands and the Prairie Provinces, the Great Plains and the Canadian Rockies...

The American elite is the same way.  This is about place and class. The highly educated don't want to see themselves as citizens of mere-nations with their history (warts and all) religious and cultural traditions, national anthems before sporting events etc etc. Post national Europe is a far grander project, no?

And Globalists have been rocked by three elections now, Brexit, Trump and Boris' campaign. How could the public let them down like that? Psst, don't tell 'em about what's gonna happen in November.

Exit question for the sophisticated types the Remainers, the Never-Trumpers: What if it's you?

*You're damn right we capitalize that.
**[Awwww thanks -Ed]

The Jew is not Popular

Via CNN (lying bastards) a poll on Juden Hass in Europe:
Honestly, given Europe's history (ahem) these numbers look pretty good.

For a variety of reasons these numbers will worsen over time. We expect the coming Israeli-Iran war to permanently tip the European's opinion against the Jews in their midst.

The wise European Jew will be looking to leave.

Historically Jews have not been so wise.

The Exodus was the only time in history Jews prudently found the exit before it was too late.

We wonder if we'll live to see a pogrom in Europe. Our children certainly will.

About 10% of the world's Jewish population, 1,400,000, live in Europe.

Not for long.

Baruch Hashem.

The Weak Lot Wakes Up

'They're a weak lot in Europe some of them...weak...feeble.'- Margaret Thatcher

The LA Times tells us that Europe is panicking:
Deeply alarmed at President Trump’s attacks on NATO and the transatlantic relationship, European governments are rethinking their reliance on the United States as a strategic ally against Russia, but they are unlikely to make regional security arrangements independent of Washington.
Europe lives under the umbrella of protection we provide and question the way we provide it.
But European allies bewildered by Trump’s seeming hostility for NATO must confront a sobering reality: They have few good alternatives for protecting themselves against Russia or other potential adversaries.
Europe is 'bewildered'. But, but, defence has always been provided by Les Americans...

Europe could try taking national defence commitments seriously.

Europe needs America far more than it ever realized.

What's European diplomacy accomplished the last century? Versailles? Munich?

So righteous about their soft power, only American intervention ended the Yugoslav crisis. How's European 'soft power' standing against Putin's tanks?

Europe congratulates itself for 70 years of peace, but forgets that peace was imposed by the United States and the Soviet Union and guaranteed by the United States after the Cold War.

Now Russia is resurgent and Europe finds America not necessarily willing to fight for Frankfurt, liberate Liege, or die for Dusseldorf.

Europe: Weak, Feeble, Parochial

The Prime Minister informs us that she plans to trigger Article 50 and initiate the Brexit by March of next year:
Dismissing the arguments of some opponents of Brexit that the results of withdrawal negotiations under Article 50 of the EU treaties should be put to a second referendum, Mrs May said: "Come on! The referendum vote was clear, it was legitimate, it was the biggest vote for change this country has ever known. Brexit means Brexit and we are going to make a success of it."
The elites lost this one, which is remarkable.

She's taking exactly the right tac:
Britain must look beyond Europe for economic success, the Prime Minister said on Sunday as she suggested there would be no deal on immigration to keep the UK in the single market.
Setting out her first detailed blueprint for Brexit, Theresa May said that the UK would become “truly global” as she listed eight nations including China, India and Singapore prepared to sign major free trade deals with the UK

A hundred years ago, heck 50 years ago, Britain ruled a cosmopolitan empire which spanned the globe. The sun never set upon that empire and the isles were packed with people who had served along all points of the compass, from Cownpore to Aden to Nairobi to Singapore.

Since the 1970s Britain has been a part of Europe. Its a small place, insular and parochial where the latest football score is the most important news event. A continent where the average person can't place California, Texas, or Florida on the map. A continent blissfully unaware that there's a war on, whose nations barely make a contribution to NATO operations, who can't even see the Russian colossus on their doorstep:

Maggie, I tried to name a daughter after you.

Brexit can't come soon enough:

A report from the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) found there was an increase in hate speech and racist violence in the UK from 2009 to March 2016.
Blaming the press, ECRI Chair Christian Ahlund, said: “It is no coincidence that racist violence is on the rise in the UK at the same time as we see worrying examples of intolerance and hate speech in the newspapers, online and even among politicians.”
The report makes a whopping 23 recommendations to Theresa May’s Government for changes to criminal law, the freedom of the press, crime reporting and equality law.
Yeah, because hurt Muslim feelings are the problem in Europe right now. That's exactly what I thought as Muslims were assaulting women in Cologne.

Whitehall told the Euro's to get bent:

In a written statement to the ECRI, the Government said: “The Government is committed to a free and open press and does not interfere with what the press does and does not publish, as long as the press abides by the law.”

I like this Theresa May woman.
