Monday Metal, supplemental: we'll be seeing Iron Maiden this Friday, October 21 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, where we shall dance the dance of death. 🎸Let's get in the mood:
đť…¤When you're lying in your sleep, when you're lying in your bed, do you wait for the dream where you're dancing with the dead?♩
It would seem the Soviets have achieved some sort of breakthrough on the Donbass front. This is a war of attrition now. Obviously the Ruskis have more men and guns than the Ukes, and that's not a society that traditionally gets hung up on casualties. What are all the Ukrainian romanticists in the West going to do when Zelensky cuts a deal? Prediction: some leftists will accuse Zelensky of being more loyal to Israel than Ukraine. Meanwhile, Powerline reports on weakening American support for the Davos set's war in Ukraine. Our KGB handler paid many rubles to write that...comrades.
Of course the cops in Uvalde sat on their asses: 'The teenage madman who slaughtered 19 kids and two teachers in a Texas school spent more than 40 minutes inside as witnesses desperately urged police to charge into the building, it was revealed Wednesday.' Read the rest of the NY Post article if you want to get enraged and saddened. Dear god, 'A witness who lived across the street from the elementary school, said onlookers begged officers outside the school to do something as bullets rang inside the building. “Go in there! Go in there!” nearby women shouted at the officers who did not go inside, 24-year-old Juan Carranza said.'
I spent a lot of time in classrooms from 2002-2015, middle school, high school, college. Already by 2002 schools made sure classrooms had locks. Bernards High, where we worked from 2002-2009 had a hardened entrance, as do all our daughter's schools today. The second rate yeshiva in Passaic for which we taught was already pretty paranoid by the time we got there in 2003.
The best instruction we ever had on the matter of school shootings was, 'Don't look, act.' That is close and lock the door. Tie a belt around the hinge. Turn off the lights. Shove the teacher's desk in front of the door. Everyone on the floor. Lemme tell you people something. I decided early on, my life was not as important as my students.
