Various on Will's Wednesday

This blog has no insights into last night's primary races.

Would people calm the fuck down about the gun legislation passed in the senate last night? First, this will unleash a whole slew of lawsuits against so called red flag laws; in a court system vastly more friendly to the Bill of Rights than it was a decade ago. Second, the GOP will have a talking point about doing something about violence. And D, vulnerable senate Dems will be on record against guns. It's almost as if these people don't understand Cocaine Mitch.

Speaking of the courts, a yuge win. Via Hot Air: 'In a closely watched case argued in December, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that the state of Maine cannot restrict education reimbursement funds for parents to only “non-sectarian” schools. ' Another massive win for religious liberty. Remember the court's ruling about Covid lockdowns and religious worship? Roberts went along with the Bill of Rights here. Is he perfect? No. But Roberts is only about half as bad as people say.

Our very latest at 19FortyFive: 'What if World War I Had Kept Going? On Nov. 14, 1918, American Expeditionary Force artillery spoke once more. Hundreds of American 75mm guns hammered German positions on the east bank of the River Meuse. After a barrage lasting half an hour, tens of thousands of Doughboys went over the top. Gen. John J. Pershing’s grand offensive toward the German Rhine and Saar valleys had begun.'

Ahhhh...feels good to link to something we just wrote again.

From The Times of Israel, the Polish government resents the way Israeli Auschwitz tours present Holocaust history: 'The Polish government wants formal rules to regulate the terms under which Israeli high school students pay Holocaust study visits to the country, including on the presence of armed Israeli guards, an official in Warsaw says.' The wise Israeli tour group has armed guards. Arabs don't even think about messing with El Al. Also, '“There are also threads appearing (to suggest) that Poland is an antisemitic country and for that reason it’s dangerous here,” [Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin] Przydacz tells Radio RMF24.' Poland is a very anti-sematic country. When my wife did a Birthright-Israel tour of Auschwitz, they threw bottles at the bus. I like you Poland, I do. But you have a problem.
