Monday Books, Limeys, Pinochet and Metal

We barbequed yesterday. There was pineapple. Don't judge, the girls wanted it.

The ugly truth about book sales:

Read the thread and believe. A Line through the Desert sold 19 copies the first month (May 2009). It took a year to sell 100 copies. We sell and KU many more per month and per year now. We are a mid-lister with a gradually expanding audience. It's hard goddamn work getting to this point.

In Britain, Liz Truss is the Tories' new leader and Britian's new Prime Minister. We yawn. Truss is a big girl's blouse, and why does she want the job, anyway? She's going to get killed in/at the polls when the energy crisis hits this winter. At this point, Stroock's Books wants Boris back. Maybe Truss will rise to the occasion, just like Cameron and May...we kid, we jest.

Chile has rejected the proposed socialist constitution. 'In a referendum on September 4th, 62% of voters rejected the constitution drawn up by the convention; not one of Chile’s 16 regions approved it. Polls had for months shown that the charter would be spurned. But none predicted a 24-point margin.' Chile's current constitution was drafted under Augusto Pinochet, savior of the nation. God bless him.

What Will's Watching, Vikings Valhalla: I started an episode yesterday afternoon and nodded off. 1/4

Though we loath a lot of the language in this article about managing bipolar disorder, we agree with most of what we read here. This point is...interesting, 'One of my early signs of bipolar disease was an exercise addiction... I realize now that I did that as a way to escape all the thoughts crowding my head.' Uhhh....we have that and are wondering right this moment if we can wait till Wednesday to get to the gym.

We've no plans to start/suggest writing side projects at Rising Apple or 1945 or anything, certainly not a military history magazine. Why bother at this point with that last one? Today we'll be tweaking The New American Order, and getting back to The Final Storm.

Monday (not-proto) Metal, The Kinks, the Village Green Preservation Society. We heard about this re-reading Andrew Marr's History of Modern Britain:
