On the Eve of Eve a Jew and his GOP Peeve

My very latest at 19FortyFiveFrom the moment voters in Maricopa County, Arizona encountered trouble voting in the 2022 midterm elections, Republican gubernatorial nominee Kari Lake claimed fraud. The former newscaster is getting her day in court. While a Maricopa County judge dismissed eight parts of Lake’s lawsuit, he allowed two counts to go forward. In the two remaining counts, Lake alleges that an election worker interfered with ballot printers and that Maricopa County violated its own ballot chain of custody rules. As a result of this malfeasance, Lake says Democrat Secretary of State Katie Hobbs won the election. Click on through, losers. We're learning about election denialism.

A loyal Stroock's Books fan commented that the GOP is dead. Quite right. At least to him. And this blog as well. We've said the same before, but still. In 30 years what has the GOP ever done for us? Yes, there are some victories. But these are few and widely dispersed. During that time the left has marched and marched. We've gone from arguing about gays in the military to arguing about groomers grooming kids. The government is still bloated. The nation is in massive debt...we could go on. In fact, we hope to go on. We hope to write on this subject for 19FortyFive in the new year.

Paul Joseph Watson reports that grownups are buying themselves toys, accounting for 1/4 of toy sales now. In our basement is a cardboard box filled with our old Britain toy soldiers. Knights, Blues, Grays, Tommies, GIs, Germans... Our daughters played with them when they were younger. Being the father of three girls we've played with dolls. [Yeah, that's why you played with dolls-Ed]. There are plenty of men who like to collect toys. That's not what this is.

The Times of Israel has a detailed list of the new Israeli government's legislative priorities. We urge reader(s) to click on through and read it. Stroock's Books doesn't like the list at all. This is truly the religious right's agenda. We are especially irked by the religious funding and Haredi military exception. There is also an attempt to 'Judaize' areas in Northern Israel. Is the Israeli right trying to make life unpleasant for Arabs in the hopes they leave? If you were an Arab-Israeli, where would you go? Probably the US, no? We haven't even touched the West Bank annexation plans. We don't like these people. Still, it's nice to see someone sock it to the secularists.

NJ.com reports:  "Between July 2020 and July 2021, the net loss of residents to relocations was 39,954 people, according to the U.S. Census, which tracks that figure as “net domestic migrations." From June 2018 to July 2019, New Jersey had 48,946 more people move out-of-state than people moving into New Jersey. " That's an incredible number given the state's influx of foreign immigrants. What's going on here? New Jersey is an expensive state with high taxes. And it's got a bad rep, mostly undeserved. We say that as a New Yorker who once swore he'd never live in New Jersey. The flaws are exaggerated.
