Tuesday Finances

So Barney Frank sits on the Silicon Valley Bank board. That is the co-author of the Dodd-Frank bank regulatory reform bill now...oh why bother getting upset.  No wonder SVB is getting a bailout. We don't even know why we're shocked. There ought to be a law. Check that. There ought to be pitchforks, torches and defenestration.

Yesterday we called our financial guy to ask about our bank's liquidity. He wasn't returning calls and emails came back undeliverable. We're not worried because our bank is simply too big to fail. Stroock's Books remains confident that there's nothing to worry about. Trust the system.

On a whim we sent a query to REDACTED about an article. To our surprise REDACTED replied that they wanted the article and informed us that an article we submitted weeks ago will be in print this week; with apologies. So they claim. Stroock's Books remains skeptical.

What Will's Watching: A few summers ago, we began Star Trek Voyager and watched till they took it off Netflix. We realized last night that we subscribe to Paramount (for some reason) which has...Star Trek Voyager. We renew our Voyager watch midway through season 3. We'll say again, Voyager is like The Next Generation with different characters dealing with more or less the same stuff. Voyager has some good ideas, but there's a lot of missed opportunities.

Reading over the SAS's attack on the Kremlin in World War 1990: The Final Storm, the general narrative is fine but could use articulation. That is, we've got a lot of 'Flame-2' and, 'The gunner fired...' Problem, we don't want to over characterize, which is why characters are known as 'the gunner' etc etc. Right now we've got de la Billiere, Clarke and team, Benny Jacobs (remember him), who will run inside the Kremlin walls and shoot anything that moves.

FB tells us that we posted the picture at left eight years ago. In just a few weeks we'll have a massive, life altering gout attack followed by chronic chest pains ending with a cardiac catheterization. That's where they stick a line up your wrist, run it to your artery and inflate a steel balloon. At right is a few days ago. Think we haven't made a few changes since then?
