War Night and Dixie

We awoke tired and sluggish. Don't quite know why.

We had a fine BBQ last night. But there was an awkward moment when the grill temp read 375, we looked away, looked back and saw it read 900. Stupid grease fire.  We sprung into action in the most dad way possible. We had a couple of hamburgers. So far, no gout.

Girls back to school this week after spring break.

Our two-years-old LG dishwasher seems to be having technical bleepy and beepy issues. We blame North Korea.

We went through our boxes of books yesterday and came out with fine titles on the Civil War, or if you prefer, the War Between the States.

We think we lost five or six Civil War books in the flood of September 2021.We've read em all. That series of books on the left, presents the war in bight sized chunks. We may read these all again. Look Away is a brilliant book by a brilliant author, William C. Davis. We may read his bio of Jefferson Davis, no relation.

You know, for nearly 30 years we've been reading history and military history books. Always we read with an eye toward learning something; an eye toward the future. Very often an eye toward writing a magazine article. Reminder, we've written two magazine articles about the war, Sherman's March and The Grand Review. But we no longer read with the future in mind. So why not reread? Heck last summer we read Andrew Marr's History of Modern Britain for the third time.

When one feels the spark, one feels the spark.

Proper segue...readers know there's a Confederate angle in World War 1990: The Weser, through the 211th Armored Cavalry Regiment 'Rebel Renegades'. After their HHT is shot down over the Atlantic an African American officer takes over. He never flies the Stars and Bars (nope, the Northwestern Wildcat flag), but does give a rebel yell. We're surprised (almost disappointed) no one's given us grief for that.*

General Natan Nagid was having fun this morning.

What Will's Watching: MASH. I dunno. This was part of the background noise of our childhood, coming on every night on Channel 5 at 7. We're three episodes into season-1 and a bit bored. Some laughs, but mostly MASH is dated as all hell. As one would expect.

The New American Order... Everything is uploaded. Everything is ready. All we have to do is press PUBLISH. We procrastinate with a sense of fear, trepidation, and self-loathing. Did we mention fear? This never used to be a problem. We might just hit PUBLISH May 1st.

Back to the World War 1990: The Final Storm salt mine we go.

Also, we're thinking about nuke compilation story ideas. War Night, and other Stories of the Great Nuclear War of 1975.

*Great marketing opportunity.
