We feel it, just a spark, to reread some of those Confederate history books we read in the summer of 2020. We really feel an urge to get back in the weeds about Jeff Davis, the Confederate government and its last days. Gotta dig through the boxes first.
Congruently, we've found ourselves thinking over a short story about a post-victory Confederacy, a future history, maybe to 1900. There's no Olde South or Lost Causeism here. We believe the Confederacy would be isolated and shrinking. We believe the Confederacy would have preserved slavery. Maybe it picks a war with Spain over Cuba. Maybe it loses.
