Friday Updates

Yes, Joe pathetically linked Israel and Ukraine in his speech last night. We don't care about Ukraine. And bla bla bla to everything else. 

Last night a US destroyer shot down a missile fired by Iranian backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. Whoever they are. Various reports say America has sent a thousand tonnes of weapons and ammo to Israel.  Again, we can nitpick admin actions and rhetoric. But Joe's been solid on Israel. Exit question: what's the administration's endgame in the Middle East?

The backlash against Hamas supporters in America remains severe. Thank you @Stopantisemites. 

We've noticed some on TV and online arguing that there really aren't a people called 'Palestinians'. Many others are using 'Gazans' to describe those living in the Gaza Strip. It's almost as if pundits are reading this blog. Reminder, avoid using the word 'Palestinian'. The P word is a white supremacist social construct invented by Hitler and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. 

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant is touring army units and telling the troops that the invasion will come soon and the war will be long. The Israelis have been training for urban combat against Islamists for a generation. They're as ready as they can be. But DO NOT make the mistake of thinking the Israelis are supermen who 'got this'. They aren't and don't. The IDF has made many mistakes in 75 years, like 1973 and 2006. Israeli casualties will be enormous. Our sense is that the invasion begins this weekend.

We've had an excellent week with World War 1990: Norway. The read through is about halfway done. We like what we see. We'll finish the second half of the read through next week and then...? And then we'll be in pretty good shape. 

There's nothing else we can do with World War 1990: The Final Storm. One never finishes writing a novel. One just stops. It's time to stop. Editing here we come. We have sent the MS for an estimate. 

The World War 1990 series accidently has a huge problem. There are two narratives. The primary; Arctic Storm, Eastern Storm, Polish Storm, Battle of the Three Seas and soon The Final Storm. And the secondary: ANZACs, Castro's Folly, Nederland, The Weser, and soon, Norway. Three Seas was the last novel in the primary narrative and that came in....JFC 2020. That's a lot to keep straight four years after the fact. Of course, we waited 30 years for Jerry Pournelle to finish Janissaries. But still....This problem has no solution. 

Now, what shall we write in 2024?
