Friday Updates

Readying for Disney World continues...Note, we are off. This will be the last post till our triumphant return from Disney next weekend.

We voted early yesterday in municipal elections.

The Israelis are destroying tunnels in Gaza.

We've read reports of close quarters fighting, Hamas ambushes. We've seen Hamas engage Israeli Merkeva tanks with RPGs and place IEDs on tanks. Damage unclear. The Israelis are clearly getting the better of these engagements. As of this writing, 24 Israeli soldiers have been killed in Gaza.

Via Elder of Zion, a map showing Hamas' 'metro' tunnel system with known Israeli airstrikes. Click over and note a second major tunnel complex lies in southern Gaza. Destroying this system will probably be the next phase of the Israeli attack. One suspects the Israelis will allow refugees from the north to return home and advise the evacuation of the south. Exit question: has Israel's flooding southern Gaza with Gazan refugees complicated Hamas operations in that area?

The Times of Israel says: 'US media reports increased pressure on Washington to change course on Israel’s war against the Hamas terror group and publicly call for a ceasefire...' Of course. Mixed messages. Who the hell knows what's actually going on in the Biden Administration?

It is said Joe is calling for a 'humanitarian pause'. This blog doesn't necessarily think that would hurt Israeli operations. Just finish a phase and declare a 12 hour pause, or something. The Israelis will probably have to do this.

We await Hassan Nasrallah's speech in Lebanon.

The campaign against Hamas in America continues.

The things.

Our short story for War Night is coming along. Two young White House staffers hitting the bar, The Belfast (DC insider joke), and wondering what it's all about. Overall, the MS is 6,000 + words.

As we informed a few of you people yesterday, we completed the read through of World War 1990: Norway If we really wanted to, we could read the MS one more time and send it off to the editor. We don't really want to.  As always details need to be worked out. Who's the guy who tells Captain Martin aboard Clemenceau that the Saratoga's been hit? That crap always stymies us. 'Who's the guy in the place with the thing?' and 'Wait, you mean it's not like the bridge in Star Trek?' For now the MS sits and waits.

We're not sure to which project we should be devoting mental energy while we're walking/standing around Disney World. Upon this we shall dwell.
