Will's Good Idea for the Week of 9/29/24

Mrs. Stroock's Nittany Lions defeated Illinois last night, so everyone is in a good mood this morning.

We awake once more to see Hezbollah hasn't unleashed a torrent of rockets upon Israel. With their leadership dead and rocket arsenal under sustained attack, we don't think Hezbollah knows what to do. Right now, this war feels like Desert Storm, with Hezbollah playing the part of Saddam, hunkering down and waiting for...something. What's Hezbollah waiting for, Nasrallah's funeral?* To put it another way, this is not the war we expected.

What are the knowns? If one is a terrorist leader, Israel knows where one's location. Israel can seemingly bomb whomever, whenever, wherever. Israel knows the location of dozens if not hundreds of Hezbollah rocket depots. Israel can bomb Hezbollah rocket launchers as they are preparing to a launch. Israel can fend off a massive Iranian missile and drone attack. Exit question: what are the unknown unknowns?

Will's Good Idea for the Week of 9/29/24. Up next in War Night is a story about Australia. The idea here is that Australia watches as the United States and the Soviet Union destroy one another. There will be no PM in this story, probably just an average Australian family as news breaks over the Telly that the nukes are flying.

*The Israelis should bomb it, just to be jerks.
