Good snowy morning, Stroock's Books Patriots. And happy Inauguration Day. We'll do some inauguration thoughts in a post later today. For now, we'll blog regularly.
We got about four inches of heavy, wet snow yesterday. It actually felt like eight or nine inches came down, weird. Because we wouldn't be home when the snow stopped (more below) we went outside every hour or so and did a quick shoveling. The last time out we slipped and fell on our side and elbow. We're 51 years old. We were lucky. In a few years what would we have broken....? Anyway, the accumulation looked beautiful last night and remains so this morning.
Mrs. Stroock's Eagles damn near gave her a heart attack last night, but they beat the Rams and are hosting the Washington Foreskins for the NFC Championship Game next week. We didn't see the Ravens/Bills game because we were at a neighbor's Sweet Sixteen party.
This being Chindia, the party was Chindian with lots of Indian style dance performances by the birthday girl, her parents, and friends. Sadly the catering was Italian, not Indian. We admit the chicken parm was quite good. The room was filled with friends and neighbors and glammed up teenage girls whom this middle-aged father thought needed to eat more. Three of those teenage girls were ours.
William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection has an excellent post on the hostage deal. We agree with most of it. Personally, we would never have made recovering the hostages a primary goal of the war. [That's cold, and you only say that because you aren't there-Ed]. When you're right, your right. But do note that yesterday there was rage in Gaza and joy in Israel. Maybe the deal was good after all. As for Hamas recovering and or/regrouping, pessimist, please. Israel Radar has a good analysis on Israel's future posture toward Gaza.
And do note this thread. Israel Radar also estimates rebuilding Gaza will cost tens of billions of dollars. Who's footing the bill? The Gulf Arabs? You serious? The sap Europeans will pledge a billion here and a billion there and then fail to follow through. Gaza is withering. Let it wither. We have a few ideas for hastening Gaza's decline, but decency keeps us from posting them. We're not evil, but Gaza is. Oh hell with it. Flood Gaza (see what we did there) with gambling dens, vape shops, fast food joints, weed dispensaries, porn and condoms.
