Thoughts After the Fact

We write this in Donald Trump's America. 

Donald Trump is president again. This time last year we didn't expect to ever write that sentence. We'll say it again... 

They stole the election from him.

They impeached him.

They tried to bankrupt him.

They tried to lock him up.

They even tried to kill him.

We've never been happier to be wrong about something we wrote: 'Trump couldn’t wipe the floor with Joe Biden in 2020. What makes MAGA hats think Trump can win in 2024?' As we've written before, we never really thought this day would come. And here it is.

The inauguration looked great in the Capitol Rotunda flanked by statues of Grant and Lincoln, not to mention those magnificent portraits depicting the British surrenders at Saratoga* and Yorktown. Suck it, Starmer and His Majesties' subjects everywhere. 

As for Joe and the Dems, there was no reason, none whatsoever, for Trump to be gracious and good on Trump for taking it to the Dems right to their faces. Screw them. Oh, and Joe Biden probably thought he was there for his second inauguration. No, Kamala did not know the words to God Bless America. Obama came out, right? 

We enjoyed the US Naval Academy Glee Club rendition of The Battle Hymn of the Republic. The notes echoing in the Rotunda were awe inspiring. We're of the age when young people with bright futures makes us a bit emotional.  The benedictions from all three clergy; rabbi, pastor, and priest were inspirational.** Personally, we were moved by all three.

Melania looked great. Tiffany is a total babe. 

*Canada was the staging ground for that fiend Burgoyne's invasion. It's time for a war of revenge.
