Mourning Morning

Good morning, practitioners of Stroock's Books. [How does one be a practitioner of or practice Stroock's Books?-Ed]. We dunno. We just liked the way that sounded.

Winter doesn't seem to be quite done with us as the temperature was under 40 yesterday and it's 30 degrees right now.

This morning the knee finally shows signs of actually healing. We're getting downright optimistic here. Might we actually get to the gym tomorrow? Maybe.

Sports wrap part uno: today in North America is baseball's opening day. We have no insights. As our afternoons are still open, thanks knee, we'll catch the Mets, first pitch 4:05 [Aren't you a Yankees fan?-Ed]. Meh, we shrug indifferently. We haven't really cared about the Yankees in...over a decade. The Baby Bombers of 2017 were mildly interesting. We've moved on [from the Giants, too-Ed]. Pretty much.

Sports wrap part deux: We finished watching Shoresy last night, Canada's whacky and raunchy hockey sitcom with a heart. In the final episode Shoresy plays his final game in the NOSHO. The scene where he leaves the ice for the last time and drops to one knee is well, you know. Fortunately a new season is in the works in which Shoresy is coaching the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs, 'Good 'cause you're going. Yeah-oop!'. 4/4

Yesterday we watched, via a YouTube live feed, the funeral for the father of a childhood friend. We're glad we did. We paid our respects. We saw a lot of people we grew up with. We saw people who helped shape us, who piqued our interest in fantasy and science fiction. People we had not seen in more than 15 years. A family that even crept into one of our novels. We got a little emotional.

DOGE report: a fitful day of writing yesterday understandably given the above para. We are definitely running out of steam. Definitely swimming against the tide, or writing against it, anyway.  It might be time to take a few days and think about...something else.
