When the Lion Rises

The Lion roars.

Last night the Stroock family was walking around the neighborhood with friends, when Middle Daughter handed us her phone and asked, 'Dad, what does this mean?' We read the headline and said, 'Holy shit.'

We don't even know where to begin. We followed events till about eleven and went to bed. We awoke this morning and, wow!

Ladies and gentlemen, the Prime Minister. 

Operation Rising Lion...It seems the entire Israeli air force participated in the attack on Iran. Strikes on nuclear sites, missile bases, assassinations of key military leaders and nuclear scientists....a secret Mossad drone base in Iran?! Israel suffered no losses. 

And they're still going...

Bomb shelters are open, and Israel is on lockdown. School is cancelled.  So far, Iran has managed a counterstrike of 100 drones. All intercepted. The Iranian response is weak and flaccid. So far. Iranian rhetoric is bellicose in the Arabic manner. Reminder, the more bellicose the Arab's rhetoric, the more impotent is the Arab. Is this also true for the Persian? Don't be foolish. Don't be complacent. Iran will do something terrible.* 

The Israelis pulled off a massive strategic deception, convincing the Iranians that they would not attack with all the political machinations in the Knesset and a Netanyahu family wedding this weekend. The imams are right. The Jew is clever. 

Israel has not delivered a blow like this since the opening night of the Six Day War.  Even so, tense days lay ahead. 

On a personal note...for nearly two decades we've waited for this moment. We feel a little like the French guy in The Longest Day who pops open a bottle of Champagne when the bombardment begins.
