Will's Good Idea for the Week of 8/24/25

Good Sunday, Stroock's Books congregants.

Today is Oldest Daughter's last day at home before moving into Rutgers. To be honest, it's really not that big a deal. Rutgers is 25 minutes away. There's a 60 percent chance we make a trip down there this week. Over under on number of trips is 1.5.

There's tonnes of packing to do, and Oldest Daughter is already sick of hearing us say, 'When I moved into college, I brought a TV, a radio, and a duffel bag....' or some such. And, 'What the hell do you need all this crap for?'

We must admit these last few days have brought back our own memories of moving into Wesley College some 33 years ago (30 August, 1992)*. Throughout that August we awaited move in day with [Great fear and trepidation?-Ed]. That's right. Great fear and trepidation. We'd never really been away from home, and Wesley was some 200 miles away. A far away place for a kid who thought Peekskill was vaguely exotic.

We may blog about our move in day experience all week, if we're looking for something to do and aren't in the mood for bla-bla Israel, bla-bla current events.

Moving on...

Will's Good Idea for the Week of 8/24/25. We have started writing the 5th nuke novel. We have solid ideas for a half dozen short stories, which we'll discuss over the course of the week. Latest idea, and the story we're working on right now, a woman home with her two children realizes she needs to go shopping to pick up a few items.

Other ideas: Soviet cosmonauts, BAOR, a summer camp, Kenny and Aoife again....

We are obsessed with the idea of normalcy after nuclear war. Normalcy is another idea we may blog about all week.
