Kipped the Yom

....And we're back. Back from a 3 + hour stint in the pews trying to atone for all the bad stuff we did since the last Yom Kippur. Here we are adding to next year's list since we're supposed to sit at home for a period of silent reflection. Work is definitely out of the question. We are mot reflecting silently. Oh well. We'll put bacon on our salad tomorrow too. What of it? We yommed the kippur.

It is time to grow the cold weather beard.

Oh look, a ramming and knife terrorist attack at a synagogue in Manchester, England. Kier Starmer's YooKay is unsafe for Jews.

Our own synagogue has armed security on the High Holy Days.

So, Bibi 'apologized' to Qatar and Trump provided security guarantees that it won't be bombed again. So? You people see what's happening here, right? Right? Qatar can save face and is being peeled away from Iran in exchange for pushing Hamas to accept the Trump ceasefire deal.

The Federal government remains shut down. We are indifferent. The Dems are getting the worst of it, which is a remarkable thing to write. We are reminded of our first government shutdown, 30 years ago this fall. Then Newt Gingrich and the 104th congress clashed with Bill Clinton, and got their asses utterly kicked by that piece of Arkansas trailer trash. The 104th Congress, and the Republican Revolution, never recovered, or accomplished much.

Jersey Beat: from the New Jersey Globe, a round up of recent gubernatorial race polling. We agree with the assessment, Mikie Sherrill is ahead...some. The article reminds us that pollsters under polled Jack Ciatterelli by several points in 2021. Also, GOP early and absentee votes are well ahead of their 2024 and 2021 total. Meanwhile Mikie Sherrill continues running on her bio and looking tough. Sherrill's bad news cycle continues. How'd she make all that money so fast in congress? Jack has the momentum, that's for sure. There's similar momentum for GOP Winsome Sears in Virginia too. So this is definitely a thing.  Exit question: will the momentum last?
