A good rainy morning to Stroock's Books reader(s) across the globe.
It's just after 7 AM in the morning and we are so not ready to get any work done today.
So we were at a Diwali party last night and didn't watch the Giants game. Anything interesting happen? The defense gave up 33 points? In the fourth quarter? The Giants lost 33-32? Oh...oh!
We did watch the Jets earlier in the afternoon. They suck. The only way to endure it is to like it a little bit. Reminder: Jets fans are happiest when they're miserable. It's totally a thing with them.
New York football is truly a suckhole of sports incompetence and failure.
Mrs. Stroock's Eagles defeated the Vikings though, 28-22. At 5-2 the Igles (as the people of Southeast PA and South Jersey call them) are back on track.
Christ all mighty the Cowboys were 'America's Game of the Week' again. We've had to endure all 7 of the Cowboys' games this season being broadcast in our area. The Boys of Dallas were playing the team formally known as the Foreskins [Redskins-Ed]*. The good news is we couldn't lose. We hate both teams. The bad news is we couldn't win either. We hate both teams. In any event the Cowboys defeated the 'Commanders' 44-22, which is for the best. Hosers.
The Diwali party was great though, with lots of Indian food, American beer (we drank a Bud Light and we liked it) and fireworks. Lots and lots of fireworks. It was while drinking that Bud Light that we had the idea that all us men folk should go to a World Cup game next year. Coincidence? We think not! [He's saying Bud Light is, as he would put it, Totally Gay, and therefore so is football, or 'soccer' as you Yanks like to call it].
No Kings...Sorry, if one wasn't looking for this No Kings business, one didn't find it. We were interested to see 'Palestinian' flags and pro-Hamas speakers at some of the rallies. Of course. This is the Omni-cause. Fifteen years ago, we attended the Flemington Tea Party rally. They said we were racist haters and enemies of all things not racist and hateful. Judge for yourself. At 1:10, reader(s) can see us on the left side, next to the Bunker Hill flag. We're the handsome, charismatic man with his arms folded.
The New York Post reports that if NYC radio personality Curtis Sliwa were to drop out of the mayoral race, disgraced former governor Andrew Cuomo would be 'within striking distance' of Zohran Mamdani. Which is worse? NYC deserves both of these cretins. This may be another one of those We Can't Lose situations. Sliwa's is a vanity campaign. He should do the right thing and drop out. Exit question: how many of Sliwa's voters would actually vote for Killer Andy C? Reminder, under no circumstances would this blog vote for Killer Andy C.
Across the river....the New Jersey Globe reports Mikie Sherrill leads Jack Ciattarelli 47-44 in the latest poll. Plenty of polls show Sherrill ahead 3,4,5 even 7 points. But were we Sherrill's people we would not feel comfortable. Run hard Jack, run hard. This race is winnable. Si se pueda! We'll be doing a little light canvasing today or tomorrow.
Pointless nostalgia...continues. Twenty-three years ago, we got our first substitute teaching gig. 2002-2003 was a fine year. We were called 80 + times. Pro-tip, when the sub lady desperately looking for someone to sub boy's gym calls at 6 AM in the morning, say yes. When the sub lady calls, just keep saying yes. Be a great date and you'll work- a lot. And you'll get a lot of writing done in the process.
*I hate the Redskins. Oh, yes I do. And Danny Snyder. Go to hell, fuck you [They're not called the Redskins anymore and Danny Snyder is no longer the owner. Go Liverpool FC!-Ed].
