Ten Years on and Gone: Andrew Breitbart 1969-2012

A decade now. Hard to believe.

A story I've oft told. A story I'll tell again. I was in the adjunct lounge, taking care of a few things before class. I logged on, went to Drudge and...there was the headline. I was always glad it was Drudge that told me. I thought/hoped it was a prank, but Breitbart confirmed his death. I was damn near inconsolable and even now, well...

None of the conservative gains of the last decade happen without Andrew Breitbart. Not a goddamn one. Without him we'd all be sitting around a conference table doing our best George Will.

He knew me and I knew him.

I am Andrew Breitbart. I stuck with being a college prof, and played a few tricks on campus because of Andrew Breitbart.

I am Still Andrew Breitbart

Today Breitbart reminds us that it's been eight years. We've written before on the anniversary of Breitbart's death here, and here.

We stand by every word.
Fuck you. War.

O'Keefe is Andrew Breitbart

Ten Years ago today James O'Keefe and Andrew Breitbart published the first of a half dozen ACORN sting videos.

This was the most important event in new media since Drudge broke the Lewinsky story.

O'Keefe writes about the sting operation here.

We watched with glee as O'Keefe went from ACORN office to ACORN office like Lemay's 20th Air Force firebombing Japanese cities.

It was glorious.

'We're going to nail ACORN,' O'Keefe said.

'No, we're going to nail the Media,' Breitbart replied.

In the long run no Breitbart, no Trump. This blog guarantees you that.

I miss you Andrew, every day.

I am Andrew Breitbart.

I am Andrew Breitbart

Seven years ago today Andrew Breitbart died.

I remember it well.

I was in the faculty lounge with my colleague Diane, the crazy Australian Professor. She's a story for another time. I logged onto a computer and went to Drudge, who had the headline.

I was damn near inconsolable and spent half the day hoping he was trying to play the media.

Breitbart helped change the world, and he changed me. In his memory I pulled a few stunts at Raritan Valley Community College.

I held a pro-Israel rally and fought back like a tiger when the administration tried to shut it down. They failed.

I followed up a Michael Brown rally handing out pics of him assaulting an Indian convenience store owner before the police shot him.

When the adjunct coordinator tried to sandbag me for being conservative, I went nuclear on her and the department.

Rest in peace Andrew. I know you, and you sure as hell knew me.

Breitbart is Here

Times like these I think about Andrew Breitbart.

He's gone more than six years now but his imprint is everywhere, no more so then in the Kavanaugh confirmation fight.

Andrew Breitbart began as 1/2 of the Drudge Report. He was the guy that figured out the genius of ironic headline placement. Later he started his own new page and then most famously, Big Hollywood, which eventually morphed into Breitbart, now one of the top news sites on the planet.

When he challenged a bunch of anti-Prop8 agitators to protest a mosque I was hooked.

I say without hesitation that without Breitbart there would be no Kavanaugh confirmation and no Trump. He taught us how to fight back against the smears. Breitbart taught me to go toward the flame and to turn the camera around.

I pulled some Breitbartian maneuvers when I was a prof. I was in the adjunct office when I clicked on Drudge and saw he died, I was damn near inconsolable.

I think Andrew everyday but I don't miss him, because he's right here with me.

I. Am. Andrew. Breitbart.

Breibart's headline says all that need be said.

I was in the adjunct office with my crazy Australian colleague from the outback. I logged on and went to Drudge, and I am so glad it was Drudge that gave me the news. Though my friend tried I was inconsolable.

He was one of the reasons why I fought so hard for my adjunct job. I knew what they were trying to do to me and I asked myself, What Would Breitbart Do?

So I went nuclear.

I've outlived him now, something that I was not sure I would do.

Probably his greatest hit:
