Nolte to Chappelle: Brilliant!

Breitbart's John Nolte (PBUH) reviews Dave Chappelle's new comedy special and comes away both impressed and inspired:

Comedian Dave Chappelle’s latest Netflix special, Sticks & Stones, is one of the greatest hours of comedy I have ever seen — which is saying a lot. As much as I enjoyed his legendary sketch show from 15 years ago (which I only recently caught up with), I had not been all that impressed with his Netflix specials.

This blog wondered if we were viewing a cultural touchstone, after reading Nolte we're sure of it.

We suggest reading the whole thing. Nolte is right on everything about the Chappelle special. Chappelle is gonna joke about what he wants to joke about and people who don't like it can go show their A-hole's to Michael Jackson's rotting corpse.*

We're lucky from a comedy standpoint in that we came of age during the golden age of comedy.

Obama Withered

Breitbart tells us that the candidates spent much of last night's Democrat Party debate slamming Barrack Hussein Obama's administration.

When did the party become so racist?

We kid, we kid.

It was just ten years ago that the left, the Democrats, the media, et al hailed Obama as a transformative figure, a light-worker come down to absolve America of its sins. 

Now the Dems of the future are attacking Barry's old and stammering vice president because his boss deported too many illegal Mexicans.

Obama's a sad figure now, his legacy in tatters, rejected by the party that once revered him, and looking at the very real prospect of having his weird presidential library rejected as well - in his own home town.

Hollywood: Embrace the Suck

That's an old term from the Iraq Campaign. You can look it up.

Anyhoo...

The great John Nolte [You're man-crushing-Ed] tells us how much Hollywood sucks. He deals with all kinds of structural issues, but we're interested in the creative side, that's what we do, after all:

Outside of low-budget horror, today’s movie biz is only about insanely expensive franchises, which is fine, if you have enough of them. What happened this year and last, unlike any other years I’m aware of, is the death of a whole bunch of golden geese:
Straight up bombs include Alien, Transformers, Cars, Smurfs, Resident Evil, Underworld, Wimpy Kid, Xander Cage, Nut Job, Independence Day, Ice Age, Ninja Turtles, Divergent, Huntsman, Alice in Wonderland, Inferno (DaVinci Code), and Jack Reacher.Underperformers include Pirates, Kong/Godzilla, Planet of the Apes, Star Trek, and X-Men.Add to this an entire genre: the comedy, an area in which Hollywood painted itself into a corner primarily with raunchy titles aimed at teens. Casualties include Baywatch, Snatched, Fist Fight, Rough Night, Ghostbusters, The Boss, Why Him?, Neighbors, Barbershop, Dirty Grandpa, and Zoolander 2.

We'd like to make suggestions for some movies.

A decade ago Hollywood cranked out a series of War on Terror stinkers. We don't remember their titles and we don't care to look them up. They all bombed [Nice pun-Ed].The reader(s) will just have to trust us on this one.

There's a tremendous opportunity for war movies here. Ok, its a risk we admit, its not like war movies have a 75 year track record of success or anything. We suppose there are some obscure films out there that the modern Hollywood exec might look into. The Longest Day, Saving Private Ryan, All Quiet on the Western Front.

We have done so before and doing so again is probably in vein, but what the hell. Here's some war movie ideas:

-The Marines at Fallujah: (no explanation necessary).
-Operation Viking Hammer: This would be a commando flick about the special forces and CIA paramilitaries working with the Kurds in Northern Iraq in 2003.
-First In: Based on the book of the same name, about the CIA working with the Northern Alliance in 2001. Follow it up with or combine with Jawbreaker, also based on the book of the same name.
-Snake Eaters: Based on Owen West's book on training an Iraqi infantry company.

Just a few thoughts guys.

Try Reading Books Instead of Burning them

Related to our previous post on Gone With the Wind, the mighty John Nolte, just returned to Breitbart (PBUH) notes this:

And then there is our corrupt national media that plays right along with the new book burners. Did you know, for instance, that 73% of black people rank Gone With the Wind as a good/very good movie? That is only 14 points lower than whites. Our media would never tell you that. Doesn’t fit the narrative.

Wow, turns out black people aren't overly sensitive children. Who knew?

Being Jewish, one occasionally stumbles on to something in a movie that seems motivated by judenhaus.

Our favorite western ever, the Searchers, has a ruddy, backstabbing, money grubbing shopkeeper named Futterman.  Of course there's always Shakespeare's Rosenkrantz and Gildenstern. We shrug and move on.

We suspect most blacks do the same.

Twenty five years ago William Stroock was a Conservative Democrat looking forward to Bill Clinton's inauguration. Now he was never a lefty. He favored all kinds of government action at home but also wanted a strong military. He supported the Gulf War, he  hated communism, two things that will get you primaried in today's Democrat party. In fact, in his famous 1993 English 101 Essay, 'The 1992 Presidential Campaign, a panoramic view of a myriad of divergent choices' he specifically stated, 'If it comes down to Bush and some schmuck Democrat, I'm voting for Bush'.

A few years ago in the faculty lounge a very leftwing colleague of mine who now runs something called the Hunterdon County Anti-Racism Coalition asked, upon hearing this asked, 'So what happened.'

'Well,' I replied as I adjusted my tie, 'I guess I fell in with the wrong crowd.'

In a way that's true. Because in the spring of 1993 I was hanging out with a guy who would later be my post college roommate and wedding usher, and he listened to Rush Limbaugh while we played Madden on his Sega. My buddy is now a lobbyist, btw. My most important take away from Rush was to be a happy warrior. Have fun. I always did so teaching, ok not with those little bastard Orthodox Yeshiva students.

While Limbaugh was it important, that summer I's already read what was for me a landmark book: Give War a Chance by PJ O'Rourke. Here was an irreverent baby boomer making fun of the world's crisis, retelling his own time in the Balto-Cong in 1970 and poking holes in a lot of the things I took for granted. He slammed We Are the World (its a Gen X thing, guys) and showed how it was pointless and dangerous and above all, stupid:

We are the world [solipsism], we are the children [average age forty].
We are the ones to make a brighter day [unproven], so let’s start giving [logical inference supplied without argument].
There’s a choice we’re making, so let’s start giving [true as far as it goes].
We’re saving our own lives [absurd].
It’s true we’ll make a better day [see line 2 above],
Just you and me [statistically unlikely].
That’s three palpable untruths, two dubious assertions, and nine uses of a first person pro-noun, not a single reference to trouble and anybody in it and no facts. The verse contains, literally, neither rhyme nor reason. And these musical riots of philanthropy address themselves to the wrong problems.

Going back even further, I'd say yuuge influences were Alana Alda and Rob Reiner (meathead).  I Every night of my childhood they were on channel 5 at 7 and 7:30, I mean every goddamn night. I just got sick of listening to them bad mouth American. I never need to see All in the Family again, but I really need to go back and give MASH a binge watch.

Moving on to manhood we come to Matt Drudge. He broke the Lewinsky story, of course and showed just how corrupt the media was, simply through his editorial choices. Simple really,and going strong. A real news man in the old style.

Mark Steyn. Like everyone else in America I hadn't heard of him till after 9/11. There's really no point in my trying to pick a few examples those interested should just go to his website or CRTV where he has new show. I've most importantly followed and participated in his crusade against the Canadian Human Rights Commission and now the climate fraudster Dr. Michael Mann. Free speech at any price.

Finally there's Andrew Breitbart, He began as Drudge's partner in crime and branched out or exploded out, anyway. I knew Breitbart was important after the California Prop-8 initiative when he challenged the screaming homosexuals to 'Protest a Mosque'. I was hooked. He knew me, though he never met me, and I sure knew him. I wept openly the day he died and am getting a little teary just writing this. I know he would love the way I found out, via Drudge. I can still see the screen now.

Breitbart taught me that enemy was the institutional left. He taught me how to fight it. He taught me the media is scum. He's no doubt  looking down from heavens with a giant smile. and an extended middle finger. 

You're with the media...fuck you

There is nothing about this Breitbart piece on media harassment that is not totally awesome:

Triggered journalists from across the nation are bemoaning the treatment members of the press are receiving at Trump campaign rallies from the Trump supporters the media routinely misrepresents as ignorant racists, fascist Nazis, or disenchanted working whites.

With increasing regularity, these journalist snowflakes are “reporting” their victimization at the hands Trump supporters who chant mean things like, “CNN sucks” and call them names like “presstitutes.”

Awwww, Snowflake, are people actually fighting back?

As I have said before, Mr. Trump isn't running against Obama or even Hillary!. He is running against the media.

Remember, these are the people that smeared W. with the phony National Guard story and followed that up with another phony story about al Qaeda terrorists stealing explosives out of the Saddam era al-kaka facility. These are the people who gleefully reported every American combat death in Iraq. These are the people who dumpster dived on John McCain allegedly having an affair, and rooted around Clarence Thomas's garage. I could go on and on and on...

For members of the media elite, the occasional taunts and jeers signal a dangerous threat to the free press. During an interview with Kellyanne Conway on Tuesday, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer breathlessly asked Trump’s campaign manager to ask Trump to stop calling out the press at his rallies because he is scared “there could be an ugly incident” between Trump supporters and the “hardworking young journalists” who cover his rallies.

They're worried about an 'ugly incident'? Good.
