GOP Already +1 for Senate 2020

In 2017 the Alabama GOP really screwed up by nominating Judge Roy Moore for the US Senate, essentially giving the seat to Democrat Doug Jones.*

The pre-Trump GOP being run by weaklings and accommodationists, Alabama Republicans would probably have tapped former senator Jeff Sessions to run for his old seat.** Doug Jones, who is a long shot to keep his seat, is probably counting on the GOP to do just this.

Bad news for him. Former Auburn University football head coach Tommy Tuberville has announced he's running against Jones.

That ought to about do it.

Foreign reader(s) should understand that down south college football is kinda a big deal. We're understating the sport's importance on purpose as we don't think we could ever capture what college football means to the good citizens of the South.

Lemme put it this way, southern universities finally desegregated because the integrated northern schools were beating them. A way of life is one thing, but we're talking about college football here.

Auburn is in National College Athletic  Association's  Southeastern Conference, a thing unto itself which could secede (heh) from the NCAA and thrive on its own. Usually the national champion is from the SEC. The conference is run by a gang of dirty rotten bastards. So poltiics probbaly won't seem that rough to Tuberville.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the next senator from the Great State of Alabama.

Bringing the Crazy

In recent years the GOP-e has been battling various insurgent groups within the conservative movement. The GOP-e wants nice safe Republican types, you know, Mitt Romney, while the insurgents want revolutionaries like Donald Trump.

Trump is president while Romney is not.

We just saw this play out in Alabama with Steve Bannon leading the charge against Luther Strange and giving us Roy Moore which has of course led to Doug Jones.

This is not the first time the insurgents have nominated crazy. In fact it's been happening a lot the last decade.

In 2010 the Tea Party got Sharon Angle nominated in Nevada. She had a habit of saying kooky things and lost.

That same year the Tea Party got Christine O'Donnell nominated in Delaware. She was a weirdo who cut a campaign commercial in which she proclaimed 'I am not a witch'. We argued passionately for her primary opponent, the Rhinoish Congressman Mike Castle. You see, Mrs. Stroock is from Delaware so we know the state's politics pretty well. Its a small place and once you're in you're in for life. Just ask Joe Biden.

The Tea Party really blew it there.

Then in 2012 the Missouri GOP nominated Todd Akin, please don't make us go there.

Matt Drudge Tweeted that Roy Moore was 'Too much crazy'.

Quite right.

We've argued here that the election was not about the man but the fight. Still, we wonder if in the long run we're not better off without Moore.

That's what Trump thought, which is why he backed Luther Strange. Trump knows crazy when he see's it.

Moore-o-geddon

Well today is this big day!

At stake is Steve Bannon's vision. He took on the Republican establishment by offing sitting senator Luther Strange and then led the fight against the media over allegations of sexual harassment and assault. This election is not about the man but that fight. It's also about Democrat hypocrisy.

Watch this clip of Kurt Schlichter, it's glorious:

'Then why did you vote for Bill Clinton?!'

We love Kurt Schlichter's contempt for the left.

Also at stake is the narrative. If Dems pull this off it portends certain doom for the GOP next November.

Here's what the polls have been showing, via RCP:

Yesterday two more polls came out, one showing Moore up bigly, the other showing Jones up 10.

We think the later is waaaay off and based on a totally unrealistic turnout model. Of course, back in 2012 we insisted all those polls showing Barry up by four or five points were wrong based on their turnout model. We know who was wrong on that one.

It is possible that all the other polls are wrong and this one is right. We say the Jones + 10 poll is a massive outlier. But in the last few days Barry, Senator Corey Booker and company have been touring the state trying to gin up black turnout.

We think Moore wins.

We shall see.

The Franken Gambit

This is how we know the Mueller probe is fizzling out.

The Dems are shifting from 'Russia, Russia, Russia' to 'harassment, harassment, harassment.'

Democrats know they have a yuuuge credibility problem on sexual assault. For  twenty years they've told us Bill Clinton was ok.

Just a few months okay Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of NY was telling us how great Bill Clinton is.

Now she says Trump should resign over sexual harassment allegations.

You can't #believeallwomen when you never believed Bill's many, many accusers.

That's where serial groper and Democrat senator Al Franken comes in.

Democrats can condemn Franken and call on him to resign. This is a safe move as Minnesota is a reliably blue state with a Dem governor. Whoever replaces Franken will be a Democrat.

So the battlefield is prepped.

By the way, after Roy Moore wins in Alabama tonight, Al Franken will un-resign.

Moore and Wilkes and Liberty

Moore has been Trumped.

Via Breibart:
Thursday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said while President Donald Trump thought the sexual misconduct accusations leveled against former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore were “troubling,” he also believed the voters of Alabama “should make the decision on who their next senator should be.”
Quite right. The people of Alabama can decide the matter for themselves.

Should they elect Roy Moore, the Senate can investigate and even expel him if they so desire.

The GOP-e trying to spike Moore, or the notion that McConnell may refuse to seat him if elected is absurd.

There is precedent for a rapscallion taking the seat to which he was duly elected.

Reader(s) follow us back to Britain in 1769.

John Wilkes was a radical, a newspaperman who enjoyed disparaging the king, the Scots, and whoever else he decided he didn't like. He was also a member of London's notorious Hell Fire Club, about which no more will be said.  In 1769 he was elected to Parliament for Middlesex. Parliament refused to seat him and called a new election. Middlesex returned Wilkes. Parliament once more refused to seat him and the people of Middlesex once more said screw you and elected him anyway.

He eventually served as an Alderman from London.

Ironically this Hell Fire club member in good standing was something of a hero to the John Adams and his Massachusetts puritans. Heh. Wilkes was also part of the pro-American faction including Charles James Fox and Edmund Burke.

The Hell Fire Club? I said don't ask

Roy Moore, the Grabbing

Drudge headlines:

As we suspected, more women (heh) are coming out of the woodwork.

Let us be clear.

We. Don't. Care.

This goes way beyond playing grab-ass with some poor woman, or teenage girl, anyway.

Two issues are at play here.

First, is the GOP establishment, Jeb! Romney, McCain and the losers who say Moore should step aside, This unholy troika make great concession speeches we'll give them that. They really know how to play fair.

We'd rather play to win.

Second issue, the Democrat Party.

Bill Clinton raped Juanita Broederrick.

Bill Clinton had an affair with Jennifer Flowers and countless others.

Bill Clinton dropped his pants and chased Kathleen Wiley around the Oval Office.

Bill Clinton  played hide the cigar with Monica Lewisnky, an intern mind-you. Talk about a lopsided power dynamic.

This was all just fine with the Democrat Party.

Oh, we almost forgot, Hillary! ran the Bimbo-Eruption squad charged with slut shamming the women her husband assaulted. Dems wanted her to be president.

So Moore for Alabama.

You're rules, Democrats. You're Rules. Reap it, motherfuckers.

Mooring on

We have a bevy of polls out in Alabama over the last week showing Roy Moore is still ahead. The latest says he has a six point lead. Our hunch is that these polls understate his support somewhat as respondents are afraid to tell a phone stranger that they will vote for the man. This latest poll says Moore leads 49-43, so assuming the understated support lets say the real numbers are 51-40?

That's just a hunch and a guess, though.

But honestly, how many elections have pollsters screwed up in the the last five years?

Roy Moore is under siege.

We agree with the great Don Surber:

Absent an admission of guilt between now and Election Day, [Roy Moore] deserves the support of every Republican and of every conservative.
Vote for Moore and be a conservative, or vote for someone else and be a liberal.
Anything else is nonsense.
If the allegations have merit, then the women should file police reports, investigators should gather evidence, a judge should impanel a grand jury, and if there is an indictment, the prosecutor should try the man.
If he is found guilty, the Senate should expel him.
That's a lengthy process in an impatient and self-absorbed society.

We stand by our previous writings on the WaPo story and we've been waiting for more accusers to come out of the woodwork. Gloria Allred dragged a woman out. We're waiting for more broads. If these allegations are true there should be dozens of women coming forward saying Roy Moore got grabby with them.

Until then the fight goes on.

Moored

On the one hand you have five accusers. On the other, Bill Clinton. So fuck you.

But we love the idea of the Dems getting screwed in pre or post election turmoil like they did, for example, with Bob 'Big Guns' Torricelli* here in New Jersey.

Via Breitbart here's Alabama's secretary of state:

Merrill said Moore could withdraw from the race, or the state Republican Party could formally pull its support. He further stated that if that happens and Moore receives the most votes, “our election would be declared null and void, and Governor Ivey would have to call another special election, and we’d start the process all over again.”
Roll Tide.

*It is possible that the mafia style nick name 'Big Guns' may not be 100% true.

The Media is Decadent and Depraved: Roy Moore Edition

We thought about titling this post 'Finally, A Republican Sex Criminal!' What with our periodic harping on Kennedy, Clinton, Edwards, Spitzer, Weiner, and the rest of the pervs running the Democrat Party.

But no.

First, when Democrats admit Ted Kennedy should have resigned from the senate after he left a woman to drown in an overturned car, we will call for Roy Moore to leave the Alabama Senate race.

Second, as a general rule, when something bad about a GOP appears in the establishment media we assume it's a lie.

The Washington Post is certainly establishment media.

So WaPo spent a lot of time and money digging into Roy Moore's past all the way back to the 1970s.

Here are things they could have been investigating instead of an Alabama judges alleged 70's era sexual history:

Harvey Weinstein
Hillary Clinton
    -Russian dossier
    -Uranium One deal
    -Clinton Foundation
    -Health
Bill Clinton's 26 trips on convicted pedophile's Lolita Express
James Comey's Memos
The opiod epidemic
Trump's conduct of the war in the Middle East

Heck, speaking of senate scandals did you know that here in New Jersey Senator Bob 'Mucho Money'* Menendez is on trial for bribery?

Try investigating that, you deranged, WaPo lunatics.

So, is this Roy Moore 70's era inappropriate touching of teenage girls thing true? We don't care. The Democrat Party would never let something like this keep them from power.

Neither should the GOP.

A final note on tactics. Well played Judge Moore, Steve Bannon. When Wapo contacted Moore for commentary, Bannon got all the details he could and then dumped it off to Breitbart, who then went with the story, scooping WaPo by 12 hours.

*It's possible that the mafia style 'Mucho Money' Menendez nickname is at least partially made up by the author.

They let Ted Kennedy stay in the Senate

Roy Moore

We are skeptical of the Washington Post's report and have a post all ready to go.

We're reserving judgement to see if the WaPo is going to Breitbart us tomorrow with new info.

If they do koodos to them.

Updates in the AM!
