Election Wrap up Part Dos

We have to admit that the end result of this election has confounded us.

Let us state right off we believe the Dems have stolen the seat in Arizona and a bunch of house seats in California. The reader(s) may be skeptical, which is fine, but answer this question: why do all these late recounts always, ALWAYS favor Dems? Call us a sore loser if you like, but we're not the ones trying to throw out the rules to get none citizen votes counted.

Bottom line,  the suburban districts swung Blue, and Red States swung Red.

When Trump wins easily in 2020, he'll swing a lot of those suburban districts right back to Red. The difference is many of the once and future Red districts will have much more conservative GOP reps. Our new Dem rep here in NJ-07, Tom Malinoswki will be replaced not by but Leonard Lance by a much more conservative candidate. That's not really a prediction just an example.

The Dems are further to the left, and the GOPs are further to the right.

Try getting these two to agree on anything.

In that sense, this election was another sign post on the road to Civil War.

NJ-07 A Further Thought

Challenger Tom Malinowski's ads feature the typical Dem boilerplate: Leonard Lance will take away you're healthcare, he's worse than Hitler, etc etc...

Meanwhile Lance highlights his bi-partisan credentials.

Ok, so Lance isn't appealing to the base, but he doesn't need to. If we're willing to vote for Lance already, so's the rest of NJ-07 Trumpland.

Election 2018: Report from NJ-07

Here in New Jersey's 7th Congressional District, we're represented by milquetoast Republican Leonard Lance, who is pretty much a wanker. We told him so once during a tele-townhall.

NJ-07 is rated 'toss-up' by the stat-heads who usually get these things wrong.

The district is the scene of some fierce campaigning though and Democrat Tom Malinowski is working hard to win. One see plenty of Malinowski signs around here, which means as with everywhere else, the RESISTANCE is out in force.

That above mentioned tele-townhall is important, though.

Lance has a strong organization in the district. For starters, after we told off his boss, Lance's CoS called for a follow up.

During the last few elections Lance faced primary challenges from a Tea-Party candidate. Our mailbox would get flooded with Pro-Lance material during the last ten days of the race.

We know for a fact that canvassers have come through our neighborhood talking up Lance.

And every time we go on YouTube we see this:
...or some version of it anyway.

Our point is that Lance has a good organization here in NJ-07.

From what we've seen Malinoswki's ads are an incomprehensible embarrassment:

Big Pharma, really? Does Malinowski know how many people work for 'Big Pharma' in this part of the state?

Another ad said Leonard Lance opposed assault weapon bans and funding for Abortions. So Malinowski is running a GOP turnout op now? There's also some high-concept artsy stuff, but I can't find it in Malinowski's YouTube page.

The only poll we've seen comes from mid-September and had Malinowski up 46-43, which means both sides have work to do.

I got Polled

[How do you not hear that? -Ed]

Yesterday I got polled about politics here in New Jersey, below follows a rough reckoning of the questions

What is your:
-political party? (Trump)
-political ideology? (Trump)
-most important issue? (Economics, also, deporting Mexicans)
-stance on abortion (I'm all for liberals having abortions)
congressional party preference (Whig)

What is your impression of:
-Donald Trump (God Emperor, Qusach Trumperach)
-governor Phil Murphy (It's not Christie anymore? Damn it!)
-congressman Leonard Lance (Pretty much an empty pant-load)
-challenger Tom Malinowski (Democrat right? Than evil, like slavery and Jim Crow)
I-ssue most associated with Leonard Lance (doing whatever Trump wants)

Do you:
-support trump policy/leadership style? (do I ever)
-think Tom Malinowksi is liberal (obviously)
-think Leonard Lance is a moderate (no, he's a wanker)

Who will you:
-vote for in the Senate race (Bob Hugins becuase he doesn't like teenaged prostitutes unlike certain NJ Senators)
-vote for in the House (Lance, becuase Trump)
-vote for between Malinosky or Lance (are you listening? Lance)

Demographics:
Middle-aged father of three, just waiting for something decent on TV. Football, porno, books about war, nice average house and a nice hardwood floor.*

*Concerned about the rainforest? Good becuase if you come to Casa-de-Stroock, you'll be standing on some of it, direct from Brazil.

There Will be no Blue Wave in NJ-07

We live in the NJ 7th Congressional District represented by Republican Congressman Leonard Lance. The district stretches from the 'Jersey Girl part of the state - old post war highways, shopping centers and houses like viewers would see in the Sopranos - through the more leafy central suburbs (where we live) to the rural PA border.

We think Lance is pretty much a wanker but his seat is usually safe.

This year, given that New Jersey is a Blue state the Dems have targeted Lance.

To that end we have some interesting poll data.* Here Trump enjoys a 50% approval rating and Lance as a 44/30 favorable rating.

The Dems ain't knocking off old Lenny, not with those numbers.

There will be no blue wave.

*These people actually called us but we hung up on them.

With Republicans like these...

...Who needs Democrats? Am I right people?

What's the deal with budget?!

[OK, Jerry-Ed]

We stand by our assessment that the budget doesn't suck balls, but still.

The GOP controls the House, Senate and presidency, you think they could rein things in a bit? The budget sends federal grant money to 'sanctuary' cities nullifying federal law. These losers can't even defund NPR and PBS,  organizations that want them all dead.

Our own Congressman Leonard Lance is pretty much a total wanker. So why do we keep voting for him?

He does tele-town halls where people call in and ask questions. We actually chewed Lance out a bit during 2015's budget cave in, an event that helped pave the way for Trump.

This budget cave in helps pave the way for a Democrat House.

Report From the Leonard Lance Protest

So last night my Congressman, Leonard Lance  held a town hall at my former place of employment, Raritan Valley Community College.

I didn't have tickets to the actual town hall but there was a big protest outside so I decided to check things out.

The crowd is gathered behind a temporary fence in front of the college. There is great turnout. At least a couple hundred people have showed up. These are the usual combination of professional Democrats, the SEIU and Sierra Club is here as are at least a few other local groups. A good half of the protesters are young people, it's at a college campus after all. A lot of older women are present, skinny vegans, crazy cat lady types, gals who have been doing this sort of thing since at least the Nuclear Freeze movement. I didn't see one woman I actually wanted to schtup. There are a lot of gray bearded liberal men, a few professional crazies. To my disappointment there were no black masked thugs. I didn't see one man that I thought stood a decent chance against me in a fight.

The protesters hold a eclectic and varied array of printed and homemade signs. There must have been a hundred of them. A fair amount of pink 'pussy hats' too. Many insist they are not paid protesters. Maybe, but this is a well organized and planned event as evidenced by the banners and printer signs.

The crowd is overwhelmingly white, whiter than the newsroom at MSNBC.

There are lots of cops. Branchburg, Bridgewater, Somerset County Sheriff. These were professional and friendly. There will be no trouble at this event. Lots of press too. Local, ABC, CNN, and curiously Agence Presse France. What's up with that?

Clad in a red MAGA hat I eventually settled in with half a dozen other Trump people. We stand out even with no hats. Large men. Solid looking men. One was with his beautiful blonde wife. We stood in front of the protest, watching and chatting. The crowd was boisterous, excited and loud. They were having a good time. They were also well behaved. No one gave me any trouble. When a woman dropped her sign over the temporary fence she asked if I could get it for her. I obliged.  At once point a woman with a home made 'No Wall' sign began bashing Melania to our little gaggle of Trumpiness. She was  skinny with short gray hair and glasses and a dead ringer for that coot that was thrown off a plane last month for harassing a Trump supporter. We mock her out of existence.

One by one the leaders of the various liberal groups there make short speeches. These were of the usual boilerplate and thoroughly uninteresting.

Video at this link, guys. Do watch it all the way though.
