This blog fully expects Joe to either resign or die in office. We've long wondered just how we'll deal with that. Stephen L Miller has a schtick where he posts about catapults every time Wuhan Fauci speaks. We thought we might do something like that the entire week of Joe's demise. We just wouldn't have anything to ad, and you people can get Joe commentary from somewhere else. We'd stay absolutely silent on social media. In other words, we'd just shut the hell up. And then you see something like this: ‘The most painful of recoveries’: Liberals gloat as conservative YouTuber Steven Crowder hospitalized with ‘collapsed lung’. Never forget that leftists hate you and want you to die in a fire. I dunno. Don't wrestle a pig. You get dirty and the pig likes it. But maybe sometimes you have to.

Speaking of Commies, here's our latest bit from Moscow: 'As this observer predicted last week, The Centers for Disease Control wants Americans to mask up again. The CDC recommends that people in areas with high Delta Variant infections wear masks, even if they’re already vaccinated. Said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC: ‘in rare occasions some vaccinated people infected with the delta variant after vaccination may be contagious.’ The CDC also calls for masking children and staff in schools this autumn. There's no mask mandate here in New Jersey, just a 'strong' recommendation. Which is fine. Yesterday we made a point of going to the grocery store without a mask. Signs still say if you're vaxed, no mask. Last night a video surfaced of Representative Jerry Nadler (D-Duck Donuts) in the Capitol without a mask. We reported him to the Capitol Police.

A quiet birthday. Mrs. Stroock made spaghetti and meatballs (we ate too much) and got us an ice cream cake. Sadly it didn't have an X-Wing Fighter on it.

Middle and Youngest Daughters started camp this week. Praise Kek. It's so quiet here. We got a tonne of work done yesterday. Our sister came up with her daughter, who is named for our grandmother. Perhaps she can reason with that southern ghost. They're threatening to take the boat out today. 

NJ.com reports: The COVID-19 vaccines have proven to be more than 99.9% effective in New Jersey, with 84 hospitalizations and 31 having deaths out of the 4.4 million people in the state fully vaccinated by the end of June, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday. In all, Murphy said, the state has recorded 3,747 so-called breakthrough cases — fully vaccinated people contracting the virus.' As we've told numerous friends who haven't gotten the vax, 'Either you'll get vaxed or you'll get the Wuhan Virus from Wuhan China.' Hey man, do what you want.

What Will's Watching, Weird Midwestern Food. So we caught the Mets at the Cincinnati Reds last night. The Mets won in the bottom of the 11th. As the network will often do, they brought the viewer a bit of local color. In this case they showed us a Cincinnati dish from a local chain restaurant called Skyline Chili. The 3-Way: Pasta, beans, gravy and shredded cheese. Is this really what you people eat out there?

In Which the Coming Afghan Disaster Gives us an Idea

It's July 7th and it already feels like the dog-days of summer here. We're in the midst of a second heatwave in as many weeks. Would the sun just finish off our lawn already? We threw in the towel last spring, didn't even seed. Too much going on. Put the damn thing out of its misery. 

We did back to back gym days. Machines on Monday, a great session by the way, and an hour on the treadmill yesterday. We love our treadmill time. God help us we do love it so. 

 NJ.com reports: 'New Jersey on Tuesday reported no newly confirmed COVID-19 deaths in its daily pandemic update — the first time that’s happened in nearly 16 months as the state, a one-time coronavirus epicenter, marks another milestone in its recovery. The state also reported another 145 confirmed cases, while there were fewer than 300 coronavirus patients hospitalized statewide for the fourth straight day.' The Delta variant is here, but so far so good. Twice we thought we may have had the Wuhan Virus from Wuhan China. Last spring we believed a February 2020 cold might have been the Beijing Bat Bug, and we thought we may have had the Peking Pangolin Pox last November. Duh, it came from a lab, probably on purpose. 

According to Andy Ngo and the Post Millennial, the lovely ladies of the US Women's Soccer Team that turned away from the 98 year old WWII vet playing the National Anthem were facing a flag at the far end of the stadium. Some claim exoneration. Nonsense. This requires further investigation into the athletes themselves, their friends, associations both present and past. A thorough examination of their high school yearbooks for un-patriotic sentiments is called for. The allegation has been made, and it's up to Ms. Rapinoe and her gal pals to prove it isn't true. 

Hot Air tells us the Taliban is on the march: 'NBC News has been following some reporters who are embedded in various areas of Afghanistan and it turns out that our old negotiating “partners” in the Taliban have indeed been on the move. And they aren’t skulking around in the shadows, either. They have invited reporters to look at collections of weapons and military vehicles they have seized from the abandoned provinces and bases.' It's gonna get real fucking ugly real quick, isn't it? We're talking embassy helicopter evacuations, right? Personally, we'd be slamming Taliban concentrations from the air. Well of course we're going to attack Joe for the coming disaster, even though we want the hell out of Afghanistan.

Well, the microwave installers came, took one look and said, 'We can't do this, boss.' They didn't even break out a screwdriver. I've never been ruder to a deliveryman in my life. We were mad, existentially so. We have a fridge and stove coming in the next weeks and we were seriously considering cancelling the entire order. But we held our fire. After 47 years we know that screaming at managers gets nothing done and when it's over one comes away feeling like a jerk.  Instead we unleashed Mrs. Stroock on the bastards. She does that sort of customer service stuff for a living. Let's just say things are working themselves out. 

In the Westminster system, Bibi would have stepped aside after the 2nd or 3rd deadlocked election. Hence the problem with Bibi. As we write this, he's trying to get MKs to defect from Bennet's coalition. This blog admires the man's fight, but it's over Bibi. Go write your memoirs.

Huh. People are just figuring out that the Wuhan Virus from Wuhan China was engineered in a lab, leaked (probably on purpose), and Fauci is a fast talking self promoter protecting his bureaucratic empire. Wait till these folks find out about the election. Reminder: Jeffrey Epstein did not kill himself.

Long time reader(s) know we've been mildly supportive of Governor Phil Murphy, both in general and his handling of the Wuhan Virus from Wuhan China specifically.

Gov. Phil Murphy has repeatedly claimed his policies to reopen New Jersey after the pandemic-related shutdown are rooted in science, citing the mantra that "data determines dates.” But in a letter to state lawmakers, whistleblowers who identify themselves as members of the state's Pandemic Response Team say they have no idea what specific data points the governor uses to make those decisions, because he rarely consults with them. They say this leads them to conclude the administration is "making things up as they proceed or making decisions and justifying them on the back end."

There's another batch of whistleblowers running slamming Murphy for his Wuhan Virus actions.

Yesterday he was being a total wanker, saying the protests were important and ok as long as people wore masks and social distanced.  SaveJersey askes: 

What I would now like to know: why is it okay to protest for George Floyd but not against Phil Murphy? ...Will any protesters or organizers be charged for violating the stay-at-home order?...If not, will the citations issued to anti-Murphy protesters be dismissed?...Weigh in anytime it’s convenient, Mr. Governor.

Here in America, after the malevolence and incompetence of the Chinese Communist Party forced us into lock down, people have been thinking that we've seen the worst and it will all be over soon. This blog is guilty of that as well.

One of the huge mistakes a historian can make is to look to the past for similar examples of a current event and assuming the current event will follow the same path.

Even so, what if this isn't the end, but the beginning of a hot war with China? World War Two didn't really get going until 1940, and the Great War had a long pause after the hectic summer and autumn of 1914.

Beijing's in a lot of trouble. Rising power? Don't be fooled. China has an aging population, a huge pollution problem, and the world is waking up to what they really are. China has peaked. China will never be more powerful than it is right now. Xi Jinping and the rest of the Chinese Commie Cat Cookers know it. 

The USA is off balance right now, and who knows how much of the Pacific Fleet has been hit by the Commie Kung Fu Flu. Likely? Not really. But possible. [Shrugs, holds out hands as Yidishly as he can] Five percent? There's a Bumbling Beijing Bureau hothead making the same argument over roast dog and pangolin Pecan sauce right now.

The Daily Caller reports that the US intel community believes the Wuhan Virus from Wuhan China leaked out of the Wuhan virology lab down the street from the Wuhan wet market.

Very positive. Great immigrants. Great Americans.

Generally positive.

-what is your general impression of the Chinese government?

Communist pigs. They learned nothing from the massive mistakes the Soviets made at Chernobyl, especially covering it up. Gorbachev thinks Chernobyl was the beginning of the end of the Soviet Union. Between the imprisonment of a million Uighurs, the Hong Kong Protests, Trump’s victory in the trade war, and now the Wuhan Virus, Beijing has lost a lot of face. It’s a miracle they didn’t send the tanks into Hong Kong. Maybe they felt they couldn’t get away with it? A reckoning will come between the West and the Politburo in Beijing. Also, Xi Jinping looks like Winnie the Pooh.

-Do you think the Chinese people in China are for or against the Chinese government? 

I have no idea about people’s opinions in a country where it is illegal to hold certain opinions. I suspect if people could vote they’d vote Xi Jinping out, just like the people of Nicaragua did to Communist Danny Ortega in 1989.

-Do you think the ethnic Chinese here in the USA are for or against the Chinese government? 

Don’t really know. Probably both. Back when I was a history professor, I had Chinese students tell me Taiwan was rightfully China’s. The presence of Chinese people here suggests many of them don’t like the communist government.

-In the hypothetical situation when China (current government) and US are at war, what percentage of ethnic Chinese in USA will support China?

A small percentage at most, probably just people here on work visas planning to go back to China anyway. This is not unusual. Look up something called The German-American Bund.

-Do you think China is a threat?

Yes, absolutely. The number one threat to the United States in the world, militarily, politically, economically. It would be nuts to keep Huwai in the country and we should shut down these Confucius Institutes that have popped up. We should bring back all the industry we can from China and find different suppliers for the things we need.

-Do you genuinely believe ethnic Chinese in the USA is an integral part of the US and share your love of the country?

Yes, without hesitation. Chinese have been in this country since the late 19^th century. My maternal grandfather served in Europe with a Chinese officer, and I have the unit pic to prove it. My paternal grandfather went to school with a Chinese man.

There is very little reason to fear actual harm, scorn, or even idiocy. Though the later will happen. I understand this uneasiness perfectly. I myself am Jewish and every time a Jew makes the news for bad reasons, say Harvey Weinstein or Jeffrey Epstein, the Jew-haters come out from under the rocks. I suggest the film ‘Gentlemen’s Agreement’ currently available on Amazon Prime.

Quarantine This

We haven't written much about the Wuhan China Virus overall because we like to deal with what we know. We think Trump is doing a fine job. We don't have an opinion about Dr. Fauci either way. We think the economy is going to have to get going a lot sooner than the quarantine fetishistic say. You're damn right we're skeptical.

This blog is generally satisfied with the March Quarantine. That is, it had to be done. But Enough. What more do these people want? You can't keep the economy shutdown for ever.

Also it looks like all those death models were wrong. 

We think the Quarantine should last through this month and we should begin phasing it out in the last week. That'll mean we've spent two to three months amassing what we need and figuring out how to treat the Wuhan Virus. 

We're generally optimistic about the economic future and think things will be bounding back this summer and autumn. See the idea of 'pent up demand.' For example, long time reader(s) know the Stroocks were planning another Eurotrip. Looks like we're getting the bathrooms redone instead. How many people are going to go out to dinner when the quarantine is lifted?

So in the long run we think we'll find we overestimated the find the quarantine worked, and things returned to normal a lot quicker than the doom mongers said.

Never trust an expert. Oh, and 'because people will die' isn't good enough.

Tuck no Cuck: Hey Zeke Emanuel, Pull Your Own Plug!

It will surprise no one that this blog really likes Tucker Carlson (PBUH). He was sounding the alarm about the Wuhan Chicom Virus from Communist China three months ago. Now he's asking tough questions about the quarantine, namely, just how long does this go on?

Zeke Emanuel, former medical adviser to Barry, thinks everyone should kick it at 75* and everyone should stay home until we have a vaccine. We love it when people who have jobs tell people who lost there's to just stay at home and suck it up.

To be honest we're not sure we understand the Dem's agenda or strategy here.

But we do understand something about being unemployed, not between jobs, not out of work till the company hires you back in 6 weeks. Un. Em. Ployed.

In 1998 we did a 7 month stint. In 2000 we did an 8 month stint. We're using that terminology because being unemployed is like a goddamn prison. After we threw in the towel in April of 2001 and went back to school (online) it was over two years between paychecks.

After a time we worked out a routine, thank god. We read a lot at least, but to this day we regret not making ourselves sit down and write. We'd actually publish our first peace in 2003 and there's no reason we couldn't have pulled it off in '98 or '01 at the latest.

We didn't drink much and didn't touch drugs, thank god. But there were still a lot of sleepless nights. We'd just put our head down, feel an overwhelming tightness in our chest and just get up. We spent a lot of time sitting on the couch at 2 AM wondering what we were doing wrong and what we'd done to deserve this.

We had a lot of restless afternoons with plenty of driving around, cruising really, just to get out of the house. It was at least as stressful as being at work and we noticed we finally settled down after picking Mrs. Stroock up from work. We didn't want to answer the phone because we didn't want the person on the other end to know we were unemployed. We didn't like stepping out for the same reason. We dressed nicer than we normally would have just so we wouldn't look or feel like a derelict.

The words for the feeling: degrading, demoralizing, de-legitimizing, depressing. We should have been mainlining Prozac. And one more word: humiliating. Utterly humiliating.

The damage is permanent. This horrible residue clings to every memory of the time as if to say, 'Yeah, that was fun but it's not like you had anything to do Monday morning...' The time is never not there, it is never not a part of us, it is never not on the surface. Were the time an appendage we'd be always aware of it, like a toe or thumb.

So when a cord-yanker like Zeke Emanuel blithely says we need to stay home for 18 months regardless of the consequences he can go suck on a DNR.

Your Chindian Wuhan Virus Report

There are 4,4,02 confirmed cases of the Wuhan China Virus from Wuhan China here in New Jersey, 139 in Somerset County, and 13 in Bridgewater including two deaths. There is a Bridgewater Covid-19 group on FB, which is an excellent information clearing house, an while state authorities keep the names of the deceased private, we have learned them through the group. The Chinese American Society of Bridgewater donated medical supplies to the local police and EMTs. Good for them.

New Jersey has ramped up testing, leading to the higher reporting numbers. It's possible we're leveling off here. We'll see. Hotline calls were dropping last week, but spiked on Monday. Bergen County, right across the Hudson from Manhattan, is New Jersey's hottest spot with 819 cases. No one else even comes close.

New York City, we saw, has at least half the nation's China Virus cases. This makes sense for so many reasons. Longtime readers of this blog know our stance on New York City. Now's your chance, Governor Murphy. Drop the GWB into the Hudson! This the time for Lee van Cleef if there ever was one or at least Stacy Keach.

There are 890 cases of the Chinese Wuhan Virus from Wuhan China in New Jersey, 30 cases in Somerset County and five cases in Bridgewater.

So we did a little research and it turns out there are 8,900,000 people in New Jersey and 42,000 people in Somerset County. We don't mean to downplay things. We believe there is anecdotal evidence that America has had the CCP China Virus for much longer than is believed.

The week of home schooling went better than we ever expected it would go.

We have 100 pages to go on World War 1990: Battle of the Three Seas. Here's what that means. We are reading the hard copy, noting a few words we'd like to change, noting a few typos. We will make those changes to the final Word doc. Once that is completed we will go back through the hard copy, check that we made the changes and check that those changes are correct. Then we're done.

Nuke 1975 is 10,000 words. Can we finish it by April? No idea. In April Nederlandse becomes numero uno, the top dog, the big cheese, the head honco, el jeffe grande.

We've been doing some light weight lifting and push-ups followed by 5 miles on the exercise bike. It's a decent sweat anyway and takes 45 minutes. Our normal workouts were an hour.

The Strooklettes have taken to doing 'Corona' dances. Mrs. Stroock does not approve.

Another decent day here in Casa-de-Stroock. Good academics with plenty of outside time. Having a 13 year old at home like this can be fun (set irony detectors to max).

We haven't really talked about the political implications of the Chinese Wuhan Corona Virus, but we think Trump is doing a great job on both the Wuhan China Corona Flu and the economic impact of the Chinese Corona Virus from Wuhan China.

Anyway, yes, we come from that wing of the GOP that tried for 25 years to do something about runaway spending. Nobody cares. We've changed our mind about lots of things since the mid-90's. We were in our mid-20s, after all. There's an idea for a post.

Your New Jersey China Virus for 3/19/20

There are 427 Chinese Corona Virus cases here in New Jersey including 15 in Somerset County and five deaths overall. A viral testing center is opening up at the PNC Bank Arts Center, more or less in the middle of the state. Many a concert have we seen there: Bryan Adams, Journey, Iron Maiden, George Thorogood, Def Leppard, lots of Def Leppard.

Our Italian correspondent reports that Italy is sending half a million test kits to the United States. We guess they're writing themselves off. The dead are being transported by convoys of army trucks.

Another great day here in Casa de Stroock with assignments all completed by noon and plenty of outside time. It's raining today.

We are amusing ourselves by Tweeting people who say calling the Chinese Corona Virus the Chinese Corona Virus is racist, and asking them to disclose their financial relationship with China.

Last week was a tough one for the American economy, stock market, and public. Slowly, the number of Wuhan Coronavirus cases in the United States rose to more than 3,500. The New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ, and S&P all had their worst weeks since the Financial Crisis of 2008. At the same time, Saudi Arabia and Russia began a petroleum-price war pushing the price of oil down to levels at which many American producers cannot compete. Corona on S/t Patrick's Day

We took two of the girls to the eye doctor, which is normally packed and at least half an hour behind schedule. Yesterday we were the only one's there. Instead of waiting in the lobby we were sent to one of the exam rooms and waited there. A cute assistant sterilized the girl's glasses.

Yesterday, at five PM we were both physically and mentally tired in a way we had not been since Youngest Daughter was a baby. What is up with...oh!

It is rumored that Mayor Bill De Blasio (Communist, Nicaragua) will shut down New York City. We urge governor Murphy to have the National Guard blow up the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels, and the GWB. Never let a crisis go to waste.

Yesterday we amused ourselves by tweeting the Chinese ambassador in Washington and reminding him that he's a communist pig. 

We partook of Mrs. Stroock's corned beef and cabbage. So far, so good. No gout.

Your Combined New Jersey Wuhan Virus/Home Schooling Post for St.Patrick's Day

We have 198 cases and three deaths here in New Jersey. Bergen County, right across the Hudson River from Manhattan, is the hottest spot with 60 cases. There are five cases in Somerset County and one in Bridgewater.

Mrs. Stroock reports the grocery store is a madhouse. Curfews and closures are being instituted by Governor Murphy.

The homeschooling went better than we had a right to believe it would went, or go, or whatever. Morning art with background Beethoven, an episode of One Strange Rock  (highly recommended), then some outside time. The classrooms went up at noon and everyone took care of their assignments A-OK.

We were able to edit one scene in Nederlandse, write one scene for the Nuke thingy and write an article for Inforos (commie bastards). Given the constraints of the situation, that ain't bad.

Mrs. Stroock is making corned beef and cabbage tonight. We think we'll partake, despite the gout.
